Just a thought: I would give some serious thought about quoting someone elses opinion? First of all it's just that " an opinion" by an imperfect person. Secondly it dangerious since you don't have all the facts regarding his experience. (Remember opinions are like noses, everybody has one and they are all different). And thirdly it leaves out your own experience and education regarding the issues. My suggestion (and mind you it's just a suggestion) is to reduce the inflamitory rhetoric and at least use some of this intellectual energy to suggest a pragmatic approach regarding what to do to solve the issue. Doing that IMHO would at least set the example regarding peaceful relations.

Hey guys like i said it is only an opinion of one person and i shared that with everyone here. I stated clearly its an opinion not fact and that i dont know shit about muslims. So take it as you want. Personally I think we should kill every terrorist on the planet and i also think that muslims should help us find them and get rid of them if they ever want to be respected and not thought of terrorists to the rest of the world. until they speakout against terrorists i will assume they dont care enough to stop it and that tells me they want it.

I personally am glad that you have an opinion. However something you said caught my attention you said" Mind you My cousin is a doctor and extremely well educated. I believe hime. He was born in the middle east and lived there until he was 25 years old. So he knows alot more about it than you and I so i really believe what he has to say." Sound to me like you share HIS opinion. If that true then my comments stand. Perhaps there is more to your cousins comments than you realize. Either way thats my 2 cents.

Canada has a very similar immigrant population. By and large, it does not the same issue with the items Eric quoted (violent crime, wars, etc). You can use New Zealand as an example if you like, but why not compare the crime stats to somewhere closer to home?

A little bit of thread drift here, but here's a different take on current events from Seymour Hersh:

CNN Late Edition

Democracy Now!

Edit: Watch the interview on the Democracy Now website -- both parts. Lots of interesting stuff there about both Syria and Iran and stuff we disccused in this thread.

What annoys the hell out of me is I keep hearing all the news media say something to the effect that "trading land for peace has not worked well in the past".

That is absurd! Land for peace is the only thing that has actually resulted in peace. It was just stupid for the Israelis to think that if they gave land back to one neighbor, that it would make the other neighbors happy as well.

Twice Israel has made the "land for peace" trade.

1) In 1979, they gave land back to Egypt and Egypt agreed to recognize Israel and the two have had normal relations since and there has been no violence between those 2 countries since then.

2) In 1993 they gave land back to Jordan and Jordan agreed to recognize Israel. And again, those 2 countries have had normal relations since with no violence between them.

I don't hear them saying that Egypt and Jordan are supplying Hezbollah or Hamas with weapons. In fact, Egypt and Jordan are the only 2 Arab countries that Israel has not complained about in the past 10 years. So "land for peace" does indeed work. They just need to negotiate similar deals with Lebanon, Syria, and of course the Palestineans. Then there will be peace.
not so.

that's simple minded. as in simpleton.

this is NOT a land dispute. this is what people like you would want US to believe.

wake up. WAKE up. WAKE THE FUCK UP. (said in sam kinnison voice).

read the radical charters. it is quite clear.

two things to think about:

fastest (largest) world religion: ISLAM

# of people: 1.8 billion.

total population of earth: 6 billion.

in 20 years, they will outnumber everyone 4:1

simple math, my friend. the only people who could stop the growth, except that their birth-death ratio is now inverted by size limitation, is China.

simpleton minds see things in simpleton ways......

wake up before its too late.

do you know what the average family size (ie kitty litter size) of a muslim family is?

FIVE.

do you know what the average size of a western european or american family is?

its about 1.5

so, other than having larger families, what does that mean 30 years from now?

better read what's happening in sweden with the muslims...

Also the way they look at it is that it is Muslims agaist the rest of the world for the only reason that the rest of the world isnt muslim. You dont have to do something bad to them for them to hate you. they just hate you because you are not muslim. To them there mission is either to convert you to be muslim or kill you.
this is what ive learned from my new cousin. He actually hates muslims all muslims. He has read the Coran. "I think i spelled that wrong but who cares. from cover to cover" froom cover to cover. And he said they are fucking crazy and the only way to beat them and creat peace is to kill them. they are the root to every problem we currently have. There religion tells them life is worthless and your real life is after you die and if your a good muslim you will get something like 50 virgins and little boys when you die and swim in rivers of honey and shit like that. And they have like 100 wives whom they treat like garbage. My cousin also said the prophet mohammad was a petiphile. He used to have sex with little boys. He told me alo more. But i was shock when i heard this shit. Mind you My cousin is a doctor and extremely well educated. I believe hime. He was born in the middle east and lived there until he was 25 years old. So he knows alot more about it than you and I so i really believe what he has to say. Just to let you know im just telling everyone whay my middleastern cousin told me these are not my opinions so dont get pist at me for this thread. I just wanted to give everyone an opinion of someone who is actually from that part of the world who is not muslim.

i don't think that's an accurate summary at all re: Islam, and the prophet. I agree with Tijuana on this.

Please don't take other's review of the religion as fact without reviewing it yourself......

If it weren't for US doing what you claim, your ass would be wrapped in foreign (read: Japanese, German, Cuban/Russian) headgear and the official language would not be English and your mouth would not be allowed to speak the bullshit rhetoric you write.

Edumacate yourself re Sweden, boyfriend:

Its a bigger problem than you think.

Swedes are leaving the country in record numbers. THEIR own country.

Your attempts at SPIN are always just a little off, no?

Let's see, 2006-50-1956.

I can think of wars: Vietnam, Iraq, Iraq. (ok, so throw in Korea if you think that was a war, and technically, I'm not so sure Vietnam was our war, but ok).

What other wars are you talking about?

Are you familiar with Soviet history?

A "peace-loving" country would be one like Sweden or New Zealand -- one who had kept to themselves, not invaded other countries, not started wars, and does not have a high rate of violent crime.

It's laughable to say we are "peace-loving". We are perhaps the least peace-loving of any country in the world, perhaps with the exception of a few third world countries.

Also, having police on every corner is certainly not a sign of "peace-loving". That is a sign of a violent society that needs high security to maintain order. Nazi Germany had police on every corner. Iraq currently has police checkpoints all over the place -- would you say they are "peace-loving"?? If you go to a country like Sweden, that has an extremely low crime rate, you probably will barely see any police at all, as they do not need them.

We have police and jail because we don't let citizens take care of their own problems and because we don't kill people or chop off their hands, tongues, etc. for crimes they commit.

I wonder what the penalty for bullshitting SPIN would be in these other countries that are so civilized?
