However, regardless of what you choose, I would recommend buying it at Costco. The BEST return policy anywhere IMO although financing isn't an option.

What about DLP options? A friend/former co-worker was telling me go for LCD for gaming purposes and no burn, but DLP if I don't want to deal with viewing angles from the LCD.

Unfortunately THE best all around tv's for all of those formats are tubes. But SONY stopped making the 40" WEGA and only make the 36" now... if you go plasma, stick with Panasonic. At the end of the day, whatever looks best to you is the best format to get.

If you do, I would just wait for the Holographic Technology to be introduced, sparked from the DLP!

Gman - No issues with angle viewing with my Sony at home. However, we don't really view at more than a 45 degree angle, FWIW. And unlike the old school projection TVs, you don't need to be directly right in front to
As Pseto mentioned, bulbs are definitely a consideration in terms of maintenance expense. I have had both of mine covered under an extended warranty, so I can't tell you what the cost would be for a bulb. Anyone else know? Mike Quote:

I would recommend a Philips LCD. I have a 37" and it's great. The new ones now have a technology called ambilight that projects ambient light onto the wall behind the tv surrounding the whole screen. It's great if you plan on mounting the TV on a light colored wall. I paid $2500 for my 37", but that was about a year ago, so I'm sure they are under $2000 now.
