1-2Gb MP3 players

I'm thinking of getting my 6 year old daughter an MP3 player. I've never owned one, never used one.

It has to have an interface that a 6 year old can use. 1 or 2Gb.

Any recommendations?

TIA

why not get the ipod shuffle, theres no interface to worry about, unless you want to have a display. otherwise i'd say the nano or since she doesnt need anything fancy, look up an early gen mini or regular ipod at 6 she might be throwing things around

i would not recommend a nano at all to a 6 year old. the display will get cracked and there will be a lot of scratches on it. save yourself some money and just go get a flash based mp3 player and when she drops it, you wont have to worry about replacing it.

Thanks guys for the replies. Any other brands recommended besides iPod? There seems to be a premium for the iPods compared to the other brands. Is the sound quality or interface that much better?

In all honesty when you said "I'm thinking of" i hesitated to respond to this post. Then i reconsidered because I wanted to ask. Why an iPod for a six year old?? Don't get me wrong but this seems to be the perfect time to buy her BOOKS and expand her mind with literature. I say that because music today is by and large trash. There is so much she can learn from reading and it will help her grades. It may be none of my business but think it over. Being well read is the gateway to wisdom and spiritural riches. An iPod? Just another distraction at this point. Just somebody (with an iPod) and 5 grandchildren expressing my 2 cents.

Problem solved:

(I would suggest one of these regardless of which model or brand you get)

I considered the Shuffle but it doesn't seem to be able to select a specific song. Or am I not understanding how it works?
