MacPro beats dell on price.

Interesting comments from this review

The Apple systems is elegant and offers features that make you wonder why other PC companies have not adopted them.

Replacing or upgrading the memory, for instance, is easier than any computer I've ever used. Just slide one of two riser cards from the system, plug your RAM into the card and put it back in the case.

Adding or upgrading hard drives is equally simple: Just pull one of four trays from the computer, change or add the drive to the tray and slide it back inside. There are no cables to plug in.

The difference in price — and that it was in Apple's favor — was so surprising that I contacted Dell to confirm that I had not made a mistake in configuring its workstation.

This isn't the first time that apple systems have been cheaper than there windows couterparts - when specced the same way. I've squashed the hopes of many Mac haters using price as the final blow, in the past...

They'd dance around the issue about how their PC was better, and I break them down point by point. Usually their final attack is on price... and then we'd both BTO systems on the websites, and they'd get pwned... mouhahaha

I have never owned any Apple product except iPods. I am a PC user since MS-DOS days and now Windows XP. I was at the Apple store last weekend and had a chance to play around with the Mac Pro with 30" monitor. I was very impressed with the machine. I was able to play 5 HD videos at the same time without a hiccup and also able to browse on xoutpost.com at the same time!! Love the design of the Mac Pro hardware with the ease of adding hard drives/memory, etc. I am already familiar with the current Mac OS.

Wife even approved....Anyhow, went home on Apple.com and configured what I thought I needed on the Mac Pro and configured one to about $6800! I'll have to configure an equivalent Dell computer to see if the Apple is cheaper....

I do know that Apple has an updated OS coming out and of course, one of these days Windows Vista will come out....
