Easy way to get around this is to Remote Desktop into your computer at home to surf the net, check x3world.com, email, and other stuff. If your company blocks 3382, some routers do virtual port routing (like port 80 to 3382). Oh and NEVER EVER use your work email for personal or any type of registration. That's what gmail is for.

Port 3389 you mean.
Another way is to ssh tunnel to your home network. The tunnel can then carry your IM traffic etc. Also check out OpenVPN which can run on many different ports that are normally allowed outgoing.

You're right! But I could do 3382 with a registry update and reboot :-)

Agreed. However most corporate environments will have the system locked down at the administrator level and the user wouldn't be able to setup the phase 1 negotiations required for the tunnel. RDP is the way to go assuming 3389/UDP isn't also blocked at the FW. |

L its called a "geek off", you see this alot with computer people...it gets even more severe and requires medical attention when you get a couple of 'programmers' together
Back on Topic: just another freedom that people abused and now killed it for the majority.....

Nopes. That is the beauty of OpenVPN. Will run on any TCP port (it is not IPSEC persay) and the client can connect to that VPN port that listens on your home server. I have mine running on port 8080 that is open outgoing from a client side. The client blocks 3389 and all other ports except 80, 443 and a few others. I am sure you can find ONE port that is open!
