You mention Plasma and DLP, but not LCD, and not LCOS.

I voted for the Sony LCOS (50", also available in 60" and 70", but the 70 costs too much). Great TV, not a wall mount (but I don't have a suitable wall anyway, a plasma would have gone on the same type of stand). I liked the picture better than the others I looked at at the time, and it has excellent native resolution, 1080.

I've been looking at the 1080p Westinghouse LVM-42w2 LCD HD 42" Monitor which has been selling for as low as $1500 at Best Buy and $1549 at Crutchfield. It's received some good reviews. LINK

All I know is that when I went to Best Buy the Sony had the best picture but cost a lot more.

The Westinghouse 1080p look interesting but the test point out that you have very few sources of 1080p. I would bet that 1080 will become the standard in a few years and the cost will drop. Not sure that if you want to buy a LCD set today you should pay for 1080p?

All of this said I know you have more teck expirnce than me and would interested in how the Westinghouse performs. I would like to buy a 26 inch unit for my bedroom but will probally wait till next March.

Just a comment on burn-in. All phosphor based displays are subject to burn-in to some degree, including CRT's. When you bought your last CRT TV or computer monitor did you even worry about burn in? Exactly.

I did a ton of research and really liked the picture on the Sony projection TV, this particular one uses SXRD (Liquid Crystal over Silicon) which is a different technology than DLP. Go look at these before you buy...
