TheOl'Guy'sCarList
-1952 Ford Coupe Flathead V8, 3 on the tree (my first fooking car in 1963!)
-1955 Chevrolet BelAir 265 CI V8; 1st year for the smallblock V8, backyard motor modded on & off, for 3 years. Great, haulazz Woodward Ave. & dragstrip car.('64 to 'early '67). -'64 Falcon Sprint 260 V8 4 Spd. ('67ish) Underrated. -'62 pea green VW Bug ('67ish late) -'68 VW Beetle (first new car: late '68; hippy daze in da 'U) -'73 Chevelle SS 454 4 spd (my 2nd new car June '73) A great car that hauled ass, easy to work on and Never broke. -'76 Trans Am 4 spd, new.(Traded the Chevelle in on this. WTF?) -'78 Trans Am WS6 version, new: Hot 400 motor, 8" wide wheels, 4 Spd. Everything the '76 T/A was not. Traded that '76 TA in on this.) '75 to 2001 period included a new co. car every 2-3 yrs, so we weren't buying new cars often during that time. -'95 Jeep Grand Cherokee, new in fall '94 for theMissus. Ran like a fooking top for 6 years/91,000 miles. -2001 X5 3.0 5 Spd man.Sport, current car, traded in the CEO's JeepGrndCherokee on this; Sept' 01. -2002 Corvette convertible, MN6, Z51, etc. May '02. Current car. -2003 Honda CR-V: theCEO's current daily driver. A POS. May '03. Not as big a list as I thought; we all worked on each others cars so frequently, that upon reflection, I had to toss cars that my buds owned, but it felt like "I did", as we all spent so much time under the hood/under each others cars in the '60s. Lotsa of M'cycles over the years, too. Currently have 4. BR,md

I don't know if i was more scared or pissed off but i made it there, only stalled once and quickly learned that the parking brake is your friend when you're stopped on an uphill incline at a light and you've been driving a manual for all of about 10 minutes of your life!!!!!

My turn! My turn!
This might take a while. SANguru and I have this thing about trying to own one of every car ever made before we head off to that Great Dealership in the Sky.
Here goes...(* = Still owned) 1974 Pontiac Firebird Esprit - Limefire Mist w/ White vinyl top (thanks Mom!). 350 V8 w/ two-point-something:1 final drive = insane top speed for a smogmobile. 1980 Olds Cutlass - "Das Hindenberg" (diesel conversion college wagon). Nothing but trouble. Died in my yard the week I graduated from college. 1981 Pontiac Firebird V8 - SLOOOOOOOW but pretty. Charcoal over Red interior. Blew it up during a high-speed night road trip. 1988 Beretta GT #1 - Rolled & totaled the day after making 1st pmt :-( First new car. Fun for 1988. Black over red. 1988 Beretta GT #2 - Replaced the "defective" one above :-) I courted my wife-to-be in this car. 1987 S10 Blazer Sport 2.8l - Can you say "slug?" Looked good, though. Black/black with all options. SLOWWWWWWWWWWWW. 1990 Cavalier RS - POS. Traded it a month after I bought it. Wife's car. Yuck. 1990 Grand Am SE - Quad4 sounded like a high-speed blender full of washers. Would do 90 in 2nd gear! Good looking car for its time. Wife's car. 1989 Camaro IROC-Z 5.0 TPI - Tops leaked like a sieve. Lasted 6 wks before I got tired of drying it out. Turned out to be triple floor-planned at the dealer where I bought it. MAJOR headache getting that one fixed. 1988 Celebrity Eurosport 2.8 Wagon - Sold it for more than it cost. Go figure. Wifey's winter commuter. Someone broke into it and stole my Vaurnet cateyes...the 80's died for me that night. 1990 Mustang GT 5.0 (White) - HooooWAAAAAAAAA!!! Wife's driver. Modded w/ chip/offroad exhaust/wheels and tires. One very quick 5.0. 1992 Ford Ranger STX 4.0 Supercab - No surprises. No complaints. Did all I asked it to. 1992 Plymouth Duster 3.0 - Thought this one might be fun. Thought wrong. Amazing rubbery driveline backlash. Truly awful seats. 1973 Dodge Dart 340 Sport - First (and last) restoration. Fun old car. Bought from wife's uncle w/ 57k original miles in '93. Looked nice when I finished it. 1992 Dodge Spirit ES - My 1st real family car, aka "The Fridge." BOR-ing. 1992 Probe GT (Silver) - What a fun little car this one was. #1 of 3. That engine was like BUTTAH! 1993 Mustang GT 5.0 (Bright Red) - HooooWAAAAAAAA Part II. Wifey's car. 1995 Probe GT (Black) - Even more fun than #1. Deer magnet. #2 of 3. 1984 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE - Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :-) This Mazda was truly the "Great Little Car" in their model lineup. 1995 Dodge Ram SLT 4x4 5.2l - Tire smoker w/ 5sp. Nice lil truck. Made me a believer in The New Dodge. 1996 Camaro Z28. Black over Taupe. Auto. This car was one quick operator, and well-built to boot. No leaks! Great smoky burnouts! And got good mileage (for a 285hp LS1 V8) to boot. 1996 Ram SLT Clubcab 4x4 5.2L - More weight + AT = slower than '95 Ram. However, more room for all my stuff. 1992 Mercury Cougar SC 5sp - Br. Red over black leather. Too heavy for fun. Brakes failed one day and almost crashed. Traded it the following week. 1997 Probe GT (Dk Red/Wht Stripes/Chrome wheels) - BLING BLING! Very hard to miss this one due to color combo. Fun car. 1987 Buick Grand National - Hang on! Hates curves! Big turbo lag! All black! Represented everything that was right - and wrong - with GM in the 80's. 1998 Ram QuadCab SLT 4x4 - Would pass anything but a gas station w/ 5.9L. Had room for a baby seat. I loved this truck. 1999 Jeep Cherokee Classic - Pretty innoculous. Did all I asked it to do. 1988 Mustang LX 5.0 (Red) - Speed density = ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM the old fashioned way! Sold to a newly-licensed 16 year old. Nate, if you're out there, I hope you're still alive. 1997 Taurus SHO - Lusty V8 sound on full acceleration made me feel just like Mark Martin. Excellent baby transporter. Lovely front leather seats for a US car. Decent stereo, too. 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee TSI - Had "Orgasm Donor" sticker on back glass. Service techs loved the sticker. They got to see it a lot...seemed like the darn thing was there once a month. 1999 SLP Camaro SS - Holy Mother of God this $#%@& car was fast (for 1999, anyway)! This was the car that led me to never ever again drive while drinking. Ever. 2000 Durango SLT 4.7L - The reason I no longer believed in the New Dodge. 'Nuf said. 1998 Audi A4 2.8q - I loved this little car. Funky German Cactus green over Terracotta leather. Nice car. Fun to drive. First of many Audis. 1998 Volvo S70 T5 - GREAT seats & stereo. I've been told I'm a master of the obvious, but this car was the Volvo of sports sedans. 1998 BMW 528i - Ahhhh...finally, my 1st Bimmer. Loved this car. Oxford/Sand. I got bit by the BMW bug with this one. 1999 Mercedes ML430 - Overrated. MLs got better after 2000, but I hated being on the QC test team. Brilliant drivetrain and competent suspension could not overcome sub-Mercedes levels of fit, finish and execution. 2000 Audi S4 - OMFG this car was quick. Not SS fast, but lightning quick, esp. in wet/snowy/icy conditions. Hibiscus Red over Lt Silver Napa. Best smelling interior ever. Wife's car. Did great four wheel drift burnouts. 2001 Audi A6 2.7T - Ming Blue over Taupe. This car was simply lovely. 6speed meant it was fast too. Not amazing S4 fast, but fast in a stealthy way. Very well turned out piece. 2002 BMW X5 4.4i - Probably the best vehicle, overall, I ever owned. Fast/Gorgeous/Refined/Solid/Reliable. Of all the cars I've owned, this one is the one that I felt was the best match for me and what I want in a car. 1995 BMW M3 - Loved driving this car on tight fast twisty 2 lane roads. Gorgeous Avus Blue w/ Lux. Made a damn fine commuter too at nearly 30mpg. 2004 Audi S4 4.2L - Irresistible combo of performance and luxury. WAY fast. Loved the Recaro seats in lusty Audi nappa leather. 2004 Ford F150 SCrew - Bigger than the '98 Ram pickup, but I liked the Ram better. Wifey's truck. Gutless for 300hp. I think my X5 at 280hp used bigger horses than Ford. I hated this truck. 2003 BMW 530i - BMW 5er peaked with the E39 IMO. This car is the best of breed. Refined. Catlike reflexes. Relatively roomy. Very well designed and built. Silky. Never should have traded this one. 2006 Honda Civic Si - Reminded me of a schizophrenic terrier with the Jeckyl/Hyde powerband that was programmed into the VTEC system. Fun car to drive in the mountains. Beautiful bright red paint. 2006 Honda Accord EXL - Felt like I was driving someone else's car the entire time I had it. I could not mod the "boring" (some might say "competent") out of this car. Kept it six months. 2004 BMW X5 3.0i - Ah, finally, back in a Bimmer. What this E53 lacked in V8 power it made up for in comfort and utility. I always loved sliding into the driver's seat after a long day. This car just fit me in just about every way possible. I still miss it. 2003 F250 King Ranch/2006 F250 Harley-Davidson Edition - Kings of the road. Awful damn big, but if you're pulling or hauling something, it don't get any better than this. Hella tough to wash and wax in one day. Had to turn off ignition at drive thru because the 6.0 PowerStroke was so loud. 2003 BMW 325i - Black on black with 19s. Looked awesome. Drove even better. Proof that the biggest engine isn't always the best engine. This car was a hoot and always made me feel like the driver I wish I was. 2006 BMW 330i - Gorgeous Graphite over Terra interior was simply luscious. Great big fun on twisty roads. iDrive not as bad as tech-challenged old skool auto journalists purport to be. 2007 BMW X3 - Lots of useful space and good fun-to-drive quotient eclipsed by dumb AT vices and weird styling cues. Lack of cool toys. Monaco Blue was nice. 2006 BMW 750i - Man this thing is BIG! Well, not as big as the 750Li or the A8L I looked at, but big just the same. This car made me feel like a million bucks when I drove it. Supremely comfortable. Very reliable, believe it or not. 21" wheels added NBA swagga (and looked frickin' awesome). 1997 Ford F250 - Farm truck with 107k miles gets more comments than either of the two BMWs in the garage. Red/Silver totally stock. Runs like a champ. Probably the best $7500 I ever spent on a depreciable asset. 2007 VW Touareg TDI X 2 - #1 was Offroad Grey over Grey and #2 was Black over Teak. Man, you could pull an aircraft carrier into drydock with these things. Opulent furnishings reflected Herr Piech's master plan to turn VW into a legitimate MB/BMW competitor. These things were HEAVY! 2001 Audi TT 225 quattro Roadster - Found this one in a Chevy used car lot with 23k original miles and picked it up for a song on a snowy day in February. Was a Valentines Day gift to Wifey. She didn't appreciate it. Sold it for nearly $2k more in June. 2002 BMW M3 Convertible - This car had many assets. I think the thing I loved the most was the sound of the engine and exhaust at idle. Kinda like a a sewing machine with a badass 333hp I-6 low rumble exhaust. Oh, and the way it drove was utterly fantastic. Simply drop the top to take the fantastic scale to 11. 2007 BMW 328i Convertible - Take the E46 M3, add one convertible hardtop, remove one 6-speed manual, update electronics, soften up the suspension, detune the engine by 100hp and ad a few other other goodies and you get this: a 7/10ths M3 with a better daily-driver quotient that still has all the BMW goodness baked right in. I loved the M3, but this car is a better match for my needs at this point in time. Wow, I can't believe I remembered that many! I think I got them all. Mike
