Bit late on this but hopefully of use anyway.....
Got a Canon for high end and had a Fuji for many years that was awesome for definition and quick happy snaps, but I have to say the problem that cheesed me off with most digital photos was the colour rendering of flesh tones. I don't judge a camera by the pixels but by how true to life flesh tones come out in quick shots, and how it performs in low light. Check out Olympus, mine is the C-760 3.2 megapixels. The shots are viewed by our relies' and so often they remark on what a good photo we've taken and it was just a happy snap. Here are some shots I took just point and snap.....
