Relatives loaded up a custom kitchen with Thermador products a few years ago and have not been overwhelmed, but that's just a unique sampling.

I got LG appliances and I am not happy. Half of them don't perform like they used to and have just become a burden...

Viking or Wolf, you can't go wrong with either. They're top of the class. I have a Viking Professional Series and it's amazing. The flame range is from low enough to melt butter on a paper plate, to high enough to launch a hot air balloon.

We have a Dacor gas cooktop and we've been happy with it.
![]() Pros: continuous grates, extremely easy cleanup, reliable starter, griddle plate is awesome, doesn't look industrial (if you don't like that look) Cons: Flame pattern isn't great for smaller pots/pans, doesn't look industrial (if you like that look)

I would also ask whether you are getting a gas cooktop so that you can cook better, or for the look of it in the kitchen. As a cook with both a six burner and a separate four burner gas cooktop, I won't go back. Make sure you get a commercial vent hood as well. If you don't care about the performance as much, don't spend the money for a commercial-looking cooktop, there are lots of decent home ones.

The only reviews worth reading are the ones by enthusiasts. The people at Consumer Reports aren't enthusiasts of anything. As with most things you get what you pay for. Viking and Wolf are top notch but you pay for it. If your budget is in that range (no pun intended) consider Bluestar. My sister has one and she says it's on par with Wolf and Viking but priced much better because it doesn't carry the big name.
