to be honest, if i had one night in tokyo, i prob would not go to shinjuku, unless i was looking for something that could be found in a red light district. (ps the park hyatt hotel where lost in translation was filmed is in shinjuku, but there is really nothing close by it other than gov't buildings.)

Thanks for that. i was wondering what hotel that was. Generally what i want to accomplish in my one day there is walk around the city take "artsy" photographs, do some shopping lots of eating, and meet lots of new people to "hang" with later in the night . I'm stongly thinkin about being there another day now that there is soooo much to do there, i might even have to go back later next year. when was the last time you or anyone was there? yeah im not into the red light stuff so i guess shinjuku may not be the right place to be

You're American (I presume) and you speak English..It ALL a Red Light District......A couple of "sumimasens" and "genki-des-ka's" paired with several Kirin Dry's, and you'll be good for the night...or maybe the rest of your life..Carry a LOT of ¥ with you...You will need it for EVERYTHING...

It ALL depends on how muc you drink and eat...I used to laugh because for about 6 bucks (about¥600) you can get a plastic wrapped microwavable meal from 7-11 (Theres about 3 on every block). They tasted better than many resturant meals Ive had in my life. Also, Japanese curry (available anywhere and everywhere) was SOOOO good. Again, 6-8 bucks will fill you up for the night.

Alternatively, you can go to a Chili's of TGIF's, and pay $70 for a so-so steak dinner.

Anyway, get drunk, head to GasPanic, and have fun. You wont remember a thing, but you'll feel REEALLLY good in the morning..
