I back off nothing, I just don’t want a plateform battle, that’s not the point of the post Microsoft is holding customer hostage, they change standards to block other companies from competing (so does apple by the way), I can go on it you like. If you enjoy the way Microsoft does business than the count is at 1. My personal impression of Vista is that it’s a warmed over product that has almost nothing new other than eye candy and more user restriction on where it can an can not be run.

As for VM, Microsoft HAS blocked this use of VM’s and documented it on page 11 item 4 of the Vista use terms PDF on the Microsoft website. That is the focus of the post, not who has the best OS.

There is an extremely simple fix to run vista RC1 on vmware... I'll be interested to see what they do when the full version releases. I guess they just want everyone to buy Virtual PC...

Without getting into the platform wars, which I think is still a great debate. I must say, I was a die hard PC user until 3 years ago. I had 4 PC systems that I used for home and work. NT for Avid editing, XP for home, 2000 for day to day office stuff and another one as a render farm.
As soon as I left the "comfort" of my Miami office and the ease of a full time IT staff, it was clear, that the amount of time I spent keeping my PC's running was assinine. Like the equivalent of owning a car that you need to do a self tune-up on every 3 weeks or, the "blue screen of death".

I switched over all my cpu's to MAC as I was starting a graduate school program and didn't have time for all the PC tuning and I say, out loud, as loud as I can, "MAC'S have made my life easier and better"..

If I still was working in my office, I am sure I would still be on a PC and there is a lot that PC's can do that obviously MAC's can not especially for large offices.

But for the end user. The home computer person or artist, or mom who wants to take photo's of her kids, or lovers of a great "design" computer, (mac's are just so much prettier) there is no beating the new systems.

The only one thing I miss about a PC's are PC games. I used to love gaming on my computers. MAC does not really support good gaming.

I believe the cleaner is addressing the real question for the average joe who uses computers at home. Whatever platform one uses it seems that it should be easy for a customer to use. Instead what i continue to hear is nothing but complaints from people who are tired of being tired of dealing with Microsoft and their continued issues. People continue to cry out "Please make it simple and easy to use and Please get a handle on the software issues. That much I agree with.

Microsoft has just published on its license terms webpage the details of licenses for each Vista version. It contains 2 bad news, one targeting directly MacOSX and Parallels users:

- it will possible to install Vista only twice, so you will be able to change your hardware only once; after you will have to buy a new license.

- One can not use emulation or virtualization solutions with Vista Home (Premium and Basic). Parallels and soon VMWare will not be allowed to make this Vista version running on their system. Microsoft, in its battle against piracy, might generate so much frustration among honest customers, that the end it will lead to the opposite effect: push honest customers to get their software to work the way it is supposed to work, or look for hacked versions...

bought 1000 shares at 23.50 afew months ago - right now I'm feeling the love at 28+ - once the new software comes out, I may just take the money and look for another out of favor stock
