Does grass grow in AZ?

Here is a picture that I took yesterday when it was about 109 degrees out. As you can see, contrary to popular belief, grass does actually grow in AZ :p . What amazes me is that Zema loves to lay in the sun. Crazy dog!

How much irrigation is needed to get a lawn that green???

It's been raining off and on here in "Joisey" for days and OUR grass isn't that green

Believe it or not, I only water 4 times a week for 10-12 minutes. The key is also to fertilize here about once every 6 weeks. I only use Scott's Turf Builder.

Sweet looking grass. I was obsessed with grass with my last house. I had to have the greenest grass on the block. I actually ended up seeding my grass with my own mixture of grass seed because I didn't like the texture of the sod I saw. I used to fertilize every odd month. It was easy for me to remember that. I love scott's stuff. I was all over their turf program. Scott's has a pretty good forum on their web site, but get old after a while.
Anyways, very nice, your pride and hard work shows through.

Thanks. Yeah, my neighbor always asks "how come your grass is greener than ours"? I tell them to fertilize and quit watering 2X a day for 15 min. each time. You have to let the roots grow deep. Here's a pic of the front, compare it to the grass next door

Greg, you are absolutely right... I grew impatient last year and went to the insane 2 dose a day system. The minute the temp gets above 100 the grass wilts because the roots are shallow. I just went in the garage and made the change.

What seed mix are you using?

It was bermuda sod planted by the home builder 2 years ago. Oh, I also mulch only with my Honda "Quadra Cut" Harmony lawn mower. This helps to fertilize as well
