Directv on Mac?

Hey Mac Guru's...

Need some help.. I just bought a 30inch cinema display (yes, it's freaking awesome) and I want to know if I can get rid of the tv in my office. What I mean is, I want to run my directv box into my mac and get a window on my desktop that is TV..

I understand that there is a USB way of doing this? Again, I am not trying to turn my cpu into a dvr. Rather, I just want to have an application (of course with hardware) where I can plug either a Coax, S-video, RCA, or component video input into my computer and have TV...

Anyone have any ideas..
Thanks.
B

Hey Alex..

I clicked your link. It would appear that the card you selected is for a PC and not a MAC. And, it is a capture card.

I'm actually looking for a card that will allow me to use a box on my desktop for tv viewing. No capture neccessary. I think it would be a hardware/software combination.

it's based on EyeTV which I seen someone use before
you can also search for "TV" on their product page to see more products that might give you what you need

You need a capture card and a program like Alchemy DVR, etc. That is needed to overlay the TV image on the screen whether you plan to record or not.
