01 3.0 will get about 20k with that miles in Nor Cal, X5 cost to repair is going to start tanking the value even harder, look at the 745, I see them for 35k. They cost to much to maintain... no one want them. The big winner are the shade tree mechanics that can do 90% of the repairs themselves. They will be the new owners of X5's. The 4.4 and 4.8 will take the hardest beating, even the shade tree mechanics dont want to deal with engine related issues on these rigs. IMO of course.

I traded my '00 4.4 with 114K on it in June for 13000 against the purchase of a new 325XI. Maybe try another dealer?

Cars are generally a waisting asset and if you buy a new car you will also be faced with deprecation. If you stick out for a while you will pay off the loan and be able to make new payments on the next car. Buying a new car now will probably increase your cost of ownership and make matters worst. Unless you want to go down market say a Toyota Corolla for $14,000 you probably you should enjoy your current ride and stay the course. Sorry about your lose regarding Source 1 but selling now could only make matters worse.
People call boats a hole in the water in which you throw money, well owning a car especially a luxury car like a BMW is no different. I enjoy my BMW and realize that the cost of ownership is higher; I bet you enjoy your BMW as well. |
