Saw the strangest thing today on I-10
Hello All,
I saw the strangest thing on I-10. A tractor trailer rig was carrying a HUGE what appeared to be white fiberglass tank, like what you might expect to hold gas underground at a gas station, only again I must say HUGE! It was escorted not only by 2 wide load pace vehicles but also 2 Louisiana State Police cars - one in front and one in back. It was just held on by simple straps. It was so long and tall I don't know how it could make any turns at an intersection. OK here is the strange part. I could not see any connection between the front truck and the rear wheels, The rear platform that the back of the tank sat on had 6 axles with a total of 24 tires. 3 axles separated by a structure then 3 more axles. Surely the straps holding the tank cannot hold the 24 wheels in allingement at 60 mph. There would seem to be too much torque over that great a span. Could the rear platform be motorized and have some king of adaptive cruise control. Maybe one of you guys knows something about this. I sure would like to find out.
Thanks
