iTunes if I'm doing it legally (which I do more often since talking to my friends in a band). There are times though I still hit Kazaa Lite for individual songs or Bit-Torrents for albums I'm questionable about liking or not.

It's reportedly excellent. From what I've read, as long as you get your level settings right then you would truely be hard pressed to distinguish the difference between an MP3 created this way versus ripping it right from a CD. The only downside to this method is you have to play the entire song in order to encode it, but if you just batch them and let them run overnight then it's no big deal. Plus these tools automatically handle the ID3 song tags for you. Of course I wouldn't know from personal experience

This thread shows a long history of various methods that have been tried and plugged to get around the DRM (digital rights management) issues - http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=78454 . Time will tell if a lasting hack will be developed that permits the direct conversion of a protected WMA file to an unprotected MP3.

What do you mean by that? What are the downsides to Kazaa and Limewire?

There's the Warez Client, and also the Torrent Searcher. Great progs - especially TS.

Perhaps the RIAA issuing your ISP a subpoena for the name of the account that is associated with the IP address that has been illegally downloading music via these P2P services

Correct and also many corrupted files using Limewire or Kazaa. Kazaa, before it was very popular didn't really have any corrupted files. Now that kazaa is super popular, about every other file is corrupted. Limewire is the same thing. In the beginning, I've never dealt with corrupted files. Now that limewire has become very popular, its turning into another version of kazaa. time to find another program...
