The deal is simple, the current crew is blowing it bad so lets have a change. A bad plan is no plan at all, only adding to the problem, the sooner we get a new crew in place to figure out how to get us out of this mess the better.

What is wrong is that an increasing number of Americans are "underemployed", meaning they are college educated professionals working at low wage part-time jobs and such. They are not considered "unemployed" by government statistics.

What is wrong is that an increasing number of Americans are living below the poverty line including about 13% of all Americans and over 20% of all American children. The poverty line is $18k per year for a family of 4, or $12k for a single person. So if you and your wife have a combined gross income of $20k per year ($384 per week before taxes) and you have 2 kids, you are not considered to be living in poverty and your kids are better off than 20% of American kids.

What is wrong is that over 45 million Americans have no heath insurance.

What is wrong is that fewer than 25% of Americans own any stocks or have anything vested in that 12000 DJIA.

What is wrong is that there is a continous increase in the divide between the wealthy and the poor and the middle class is slowly disappearing in this country.

As we are on an BMW X5 message board here, most of us are upper middle-class or above. So maybe you do not care about all of this as it does not personally affect you. But as you saw yesterday at the polls, may Americans are very upset as things are not doing so great for them.

From what I have seen, you have your liberal democrats like Nancy Pelosi, and then you have your more moderate ones. Many of the newly elected democrats seem to be more moderate, so I have no idea what their agenda is. The liberal agenda of the leadership (Howard Dean and Nancy Pelosi) would be the following:

1) Immediate withdrawal from Iraq

2) Suspend Bush's tax cuts for the top tax bracket only

3) Increase the minimum wage

4) Pass an addendum bill to last year's medicaid bill allowing the government to use collective bargaining with the drug companies just as the private insurance companies do, instead of having to pay full retail price for all drugs as the current law states

5) Pass some sort of national health insurance plan. I've seen many ideas here, so who knows what they will decide to do. I haven't seen any concrete structure to what this would be.

6) Large cuts in corporate welfare including all the no bid rebuilding and military service contracts for Iraq, Afghanistan, and New Orleans. (#4 also overlaps into this corporate welfare category)

#2, 4 & 6 alone would yield enough savings to balance the Federal budget and probably give a healthy surpluss that can be spent on some sort of national health plan.

And then there is foreign policy which needs a complete overhaul. I won't even discuss that here....

1. There isn't 1 democrat who has said this. please provide a source.
2. This will stall the economy. see definition of inflation running wild.
3. big deal.
4. i agree.
5. they tried that already, see Hillary as First Lady, failed miserably. will result in higher taxes (you're getting closer, at least the higher taxes have a reason)
6. the dems are just as corrupt as the republicans in this area. see clinton era.
