You just THINK you voted for a Democrat

Pretty good article on CNN... here's an excerpt:

"The new Democrats, say analysts, are likely to force the party to shift more toward center, or else butt heads with more liberal congressional leaders."

"The House newbies are joined by a like-minded class in the Senate, including abortion opponent Bob Casey of Pennsylvania and guns rights advocate Jon Tester of Montana."

Here's the link...

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/11/...ems/index.html

This is going to be interesting to watch how it plays out... anything that brings the far right and the far left back towards the center is a good thing. The damn extremists on both sides are ruining this country.

No surprise. I heard Jim Webb (in the infamous VA senate race) was one of the most conservative Dems that ran this year.

People just voted with a "anything but Republican" mentality, that's all.

As a liberal, I can tell you that the Democrats have been shifting to the right now for many years. I laugh when I hear Republicans talk about Democrats like Hillary Clinton and Harry Reid and say they are ultra leftists. I think the Republicans (and the whole mainstream political spectrum) have shifted to the right as well, so their idea of what "leftist" is has changed.

Your more liberal Democrats of today would not have even been considered that liberal in the 1960s and 1970s. On the other hand, the mainstream Democrats from the 1960s -- people like Robert Kennedy and Eugene McCarthy -- would today find themselves politically aligned with the Green Party and would most likely not even be Democrats.

I just fear that both sides will now start trying to outmanuever each other...we're gpong to bet three months of lip service, then someone will get pissed; the real change may come in 2008 when I believe the Independent Party may get a shot.

Cool as chairman I appreciate your membership and votes!

As a backup can you send me the forms for joining the Tylenol party. I presume this is the regular Tylenol and not the generic Tylenol recall party which has a different agenda?
