Very true i agree with everyone so far, i have both the Ds and Psp, i hardly ever touch my psp and the ds is much more fun, esp for a 9y.o. Brain Age is a MUST HAVE! I used to work for gamestop and i've always gone with nintendo products for kids and above Just make sure he doesnt run around with the stylus in hand if possible i would suggest getting the bundle from costco. should yer child break it, you can just take it back to exchange, just hold on to the recipt and box

Confession: I have not touched my PSP in I don't know how long. In fact, I'm not even sure where I put it. Oh well. I'll break it back out one of these days.

It's pretty impressive but the load times are very slow. The controls are also kind of oddly positioned. You almost have to hang on by your finger tips to get full range of the buttons.

Got my PSP when they launched haven't even looked at it for at least 6 months. I don't even know where it is, maybe lost - if it is I won't miss it.
