My thoughts,

I will get PS3 and I also have 360. The Wii will be a pass unless someone tells me it is amazing.

As far as gameplay, i have always prefered the play station.

But the best platform for games, is, was, and always will be, a regular PC. Computer games are just SOOOOOO much better than console games.
I haven't figured out yet why manufacturers like Sony and Microsoft haven't figured out that PC gamers like having a mouse and keyboard over a joystick, You have more control with mouse being able to target, etc. And the keyboard gives you much better functionality.

So why one of these game systems doesn't give you the ability to play with a mouse and keyboard is just silly. I would wipe all the online gamers with joysticks off the face of the earth with PC like controls.

MOUSE AND KEYBOARD are the only way to play games. (driving games not included.)

Sup B-Line...

Nice meeting you at West Fest IV..love the Porche

In respose to your console vs PC. I would have to give you props on playing with a keyboard and mouse over a joystick..you most certainly can get more out of a game with more controls and over 100 buttons to push on a keyboard, however, graphically I would have to say we are near a dead heat on the visual portion of the debate.

Unless your running Top of the line NVidia cards on an AlienWare Area-51 I think the 360 and PS3 are right there with the PC world and if you disagree with me I would have to say the next-gen consoles coming out in 2010's like Xbox 720 & PS4 will be superior and outputing at over 1080p resolution.

But I would love a keyboard and mouse anyday...I like the 360 controller.

Have you seen Gears of War yet?

Phenominal!!

Console Wars 2006;

If it was 2002 i would be PS3 all the way, but i must admit the price tag and lack of exclusive titles on the ps3 will be its major downfall. Yeah it has awesome graphics but the games that i'm waiting for is FFX13 and Kingdom Hearts 3 until those titles have realease dates im gonna hold off.

I have the 360 now and am very impressed with the graffics marketplace etc. i have not been let down yet Looking forward to Halo 3, i havent seen gears yet but looks pretty schweet. C.O.D 2 is what got me hooked along with the NFSMW.

As for the Wii, Nintendo is on another level with this one, It is a true gaming system, yes graffics are not as good as the other 2 but the controler and just the ideas they have for it have me excited. So as for me im getting the Wii this time around and as much as i Love Sony, the PS3 is on the backburner

Law,

Good meeting you as well. Sounds like we stomped the same parties in Miami back in the day good times, good times !!

- But back to the platform war, I can't argue with your stance, graphics on console games are top notch. But here in lies the problem. I feel the manufacturers put so much time in trying to extract all these great graphics, they have forgotten how to make games fun. I could care less about the graphics, unless of course the game is amazingly fun and then great graphics are a bonus to me, but definately not a reason to play. Graphics are the "gravy", not the "meat and potatoes"..

I could sit in front of my cpu all day long and play some crappy looking game that stimulates me before I will play some mindless boring shooter that looks great on a console.

Just look at Grand Theft Auto as an example. the graphics suck, but no one cares because the fun factor is through the roof. If graphics made is slower and "clunkier" i say, to hell with the graphics.

Now imagine playing Grand Theft on a PC. Imagine not having to fart around trying to cycle through to the weapon of choice, you can just press "6" for example and get your uzi. Or "4" and get your bazooka. And you can use your mouse to aim while your cycling weapons... Now that's gaming.

The worst translation of games for example is Rainbow 6. Those games used to be FREAKING SICK !! On the PC.. They were just awesome. And playing them online was a freaking war zone...
- Then when they came out for PS2 and Xbox, it was impossible to target the enemy, hard to find your weapons. We lost function...
I just can't understand why the game companies do not give us the "option" of a keyboard and mouse. It just doesn't make sense. It's SOOOO much better.

SO, to rap up my thought, and I know I am in the minority on this.. Keep the graphics, keep the joystick, and just give me some damn fun games. I don't need the razzle and dazzle, just well thought out games.

Of course Gran Tourismo and Grand Theft Auto are still the two best console games and those belong to PlayStation <mostly>...

Chances are consoles with dedicated hardware and optimized architectures render better graphic in comparison to WinTel systems.

But I do like the flexibility of being able to use short cuts even thought it takes some learning curves.

I wish PS3 or XBox 360 had more room for customization other than their over-priced stuff. Otherwise I am not joining the camp yet.
