Xbox 360 will win this war
PS3 is already leaking reports of overheating processors and backwards compatibility issues. Good Luck with your investment. I pick up mine Tonight at midnight! I am anxious to compare Resistance:Fall of Man to Gears of War -Law

as far as backwards compatibility, i don't even see why this is an issue. all games are made with a newer, better version in mind the next time around. i've never gone back to play an older game. this could be an issue with someone who has kids so young that it doesn't really matter, but as the kids get older, it will matter. plus, i don't even think the 360 is 100% backwards compatible and the PS2 when initially launched wasn't either (although it was supposed to be).

PS3 doesn't do 1080i? Posted Nov 16th 2006 1:07PM by Richard Lawler Filed under: Gaming, HDTV That's what IGN has discovered in testing several PlayStation 3 games. Despite 1080p being "the true definition of HD", most of the titles available are rendered internally at 1280 x 720 and scaled up accordingly... or at least that's what should happen. On many older CRT HDTVs that only support 1080i input and not 720p, instead of scaling to the appropriate HD resolution, the PS3 goes back down to the positively Wii-like EDTV standard of 480p. The problem is confirmed to exist in Resistance: Fall of Man, Tiger Woods 07, Need for Speed Carbon and NHL 2K7 so far, but no word from Sony if this can or will be fixed in a downloadable update. The Xbox 360 scales to 1080i without a problem -- although 1080p results may vary -- if you're not reading this from your place in line already be sure to check your HDTV's manual for supported input resolutions before grabbing a lawn chair (and bulletproof vest).

Sony is losing profit on Every PS3
Sony losing mad loot on each PS3
Posted Nov 16th 2006 4:52PM by Paul Miller Filed under: Gaming We all knew Sony was dropping a fair bit of cash on each PS3 sold, but we suppose we got a bit too hung up on the resultant pricetags -- the notorious $499 and $599 SKUs -- to give the actual losses much of a thought. Well, worry not Sony, iSuppli's got your back. Turns out Sony will be losing change to the tune of $241.35 for every "premium" (WiFi and 60GB HDD) console, and a whoppin' $306.85 for the bargain-basement 20 gigger. In comparison, Microsoft loses $75.70 per 360 it sells, while Nintendo is laughing all the way to the bank with a profit per Wii sold. Just in case you missed it the first time around, or fell off your chair and forgot what you were reading about: Sony will lose the equivalent (or more) to the retail price of a competing console every time a cash register rings up a PS3 sale this holiday. We suppose it's for the best, then, that Sony won't have a whole lot of 'em to hand out, since we're sure Sony's own costs will start to drop as production really ramps up next year. Be sure to peep the read link for a full breakdown of the costs.
