Restaurant picks in lower Manhattan?

Ok, always helped by th X5World review, so here goes:

I'll be staying in Soho for a romantic weekend with my wife on Thanksgiving weekend (going in on Black Friday). Any recommendations on good restaurants in the area (SoHo, Tribecca, W. Village, etc.)? My wife is particularly fond of Italian food, something with a cool and/or romantic atmosphere preferred (no loud pasta joints-no kids with us on this trip! )

Doesn't have to be Italian, just a preference.

As always, I'm looking forward to the great suggestions from all onboard. TIA!

I sent AutoXer to a place called Filli Ponte's - on West Street just below Canal (Debrosse Street I think). Expensive but I think it's worth it. Italian, but not tourist Italian. Speciality is Angry Lobsters - they are sauteed in garlic, olive oil, crushed red pepper. AWESOME - hot, wet, sticky good.

Hey Auto - you out there - give Pete a review.

Raoul's. You must do Raoul's. In the heart of Soho. A classic and has never gotten ruined.

Expensive-no problem, as long as it is GOOD food and GREAT atmosphere.

Not looking for touristy.

Great part about Manhattan is all the good restaurants, sure the other one is good as well.

I would suggest using the subway while in Manhattan, quick and easy way to get around, subway stop right near the hotel.

No prob with the subway. I grew up in northern NJ, so I am not a newbie to NYC. Its just been 12 years+ since I have lived there, so I am not so in touch with stuff these days.

Thanks, gang. you guys are hot on this one. Much appreciated!
