I was never on a road called 13 coming from my starting point just south of DC, but highway 12 is the one that runs from north of Corolla down to Hatteras and Ocracoke and I did spend a lot of time on that road, and I let every hottie in a bikini cross in front of me too!

Im nuts..I was just looking at a map, and it sems as though the 13 stops in Norfolk, and turns into the 158 around there...I think...LOL...

Exactly right, I know what road you're talking about now. Still have all the roadside farmer's markets but 4 lanes instead of 2 and now fewer stoplights and no more tractors getting in front of you doing 20mph.!

Ochracoke is my fav. Now is a good time to go, because it can get nutz in the peak of the season. One of my fav places on Ochracoke is the Blue Beard Museum. It's hoaky and dinky, but I love hearing the stories of Blue Beard. BTW, Ochracoke (yeah, I know I'm not spell'n it right) has wild horses, too, but they're penned up on the west side of the main road that takes you from the ferry (from Hatteras) to downtown Ochracoke. My brother is in the Nat'l Park Svc. and for many years he was The Man on Ochracoke and lived in that big house at the base of the lighthouse.
