Wagner: If that is in fact for the BMW extended warranty product then snatch that up lickity split. That's a great price. You probably covered this with your dealer but make sure they're not selling you an aftermarket product and just telling you it's "just like the CPO warranty".

The extended maintenance can be worth it if you do not have a trusted independent mechanic to work on your X5. I bought both the BMW extended warranty and extended maintenance. I had extended my maintenace by 1 year so it was less to add the additional years. The extra year I had bought paid for itself in brakes (pads and rotors). I have an Inspection II coming up and that can get very pricey.

There are TWO(2) different extended policies, service and maintenance - Forgive me, but I keep forgetting which one covers what - I believe the oil changes, etc is service (my '06 was <$1300) and maintenance is brakes, shocks, engine, etc (my '06 was <$2800) - 6yr/100K - Be REAL clear just what you are buying!

Can I ask a stupid question? I bought my X5 about a month ago and also picked up the extended warranty and extended service warranty. I received a packet in the mail from BMW for the actual warranty but have not received anything regarding the service extension. Does BMW mail out a package for the service package separately or do they not mail out anything at all? Just want to make sure I'm not missing something that I'll need when the time comes to get the oil changed after the initial service warranty expires.

thanks
David

BB,
Just poking my nose in this thread, but for that price it seems
you may have purchased an Extended Maintenance agreement,
not an Extended Warranty.

The price is way too low for any kind of real extended warranty,
from BMW Mutha, or any 3 rd party after mkt.

That Ext Maintenance is nice and covers an oil change and brakes
but it is not an ext warranty. Check again, dear.
