It is on my X-Mas wish list for sure. I've been drooling on it after I saw frind of mine. Nice form factor, quite, and yet pricy... People who aren't into Mac won't need to apply. If you need to move large amount of data reliably it is always the Mac. I've been Palm enthusiast but they are so history now, many bad moves especially on their pricing. Now too late too lite.

I agree with Asawa. If you intend to beat the hell out of your laptop, Lenovo is way to go. Remember it is owned by Chinese Company.

I recently bought 3 Dell Laptops with centurino. They are very nice cheap and virtully silent, but I consistantly get error message "svchost.exe" pointing at wrong memory address, all of them. Dell support says to do the system restore after I installed the 800 worth of Business Client Software MS Office Pro etc.

I hate the Sony Laptop because their hinges won't open over 90 degree angle. I hate the keyboard.

Based on this original post i stand by my suggestion. For the specified quoted needs nothing beats a Mac. Everyone can argue till their blue in the face but when it comes to kids and students everyone already knows the most popular laptops are Macs handsdown

A couple of my friends asked me for the same advice. Without even going through the Windows vs. Mac debate, I simply ask them to make sure they go to an Apple Store after they have lined up their "final two choices".

They both came home with black Macbooks.
