I hope you guys can help...

When it comes to computers I just know how to log on ...and that brings me to my problem.

Last night my laptop was infected with a virus. I scanned the computer with the virus protection plan it has and it tells me that it has cleaned the unnecessary files.

I also run a "clean sweep" another program I have to make sure.

Just when I think I'm doing everything I'm suppose to do, I reboot my computer and my homepage has been changed to a "spyware protection" page.

And all these popups come up telling me to "purchase this" bc my 'puter has been infected by a "backdoor trojan" (that sounds funny!!)

Anyways, I'm just a few seconds away from throwing the thing across the room...(it's been going on since last night).

I don't want to pay for added protection when I already have it. And I especially don't want to use CC info when my computer has been weakend.

Any tips/help would be GREATLY apreciated!!

go here:

http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/ActiveScan.htm

click on the box in the middle that says "FREE! Check your PC ONLINE!"

and let it clean up your machine.

Then go here:

http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-...ml?tag=lst-0-1

and download Adaware and run it.

Counterspy works great. It's free for 15 days but well worth the 20 bucks.

3 things you need.

Antivirus (free is good) http://www.comodo.com (they also make a great great firewall)

CyberHawk (IPS - threathunter - Free is good) http://www.novatix.com/Company/Management.aspx

And last but not least:

Advance Window Cleaner (run it every week or so - Free is great)

http://iobit.com/AdvancedWindowsCare...l/download.htm

With these three running, I can guarantee you a trouble free PC.

Last, but not least. Change the HOMEPAGE of your browser. If you're using internet explorer, click on Tools, then select "Internet Options..." and replace the spyware page with your favorite homepage.

While there are MUCH more knowledgable computer users on this website than I, let me put in a plug for Norton Systemworks - It's always been in my computers for the last 20+yrs and I haven't had one crash or virus (Boy! talk about "jinxing" myself! <crossed fingers>) - simple to use and alot of nice features
