Thumbs up The Friday Files!

So we're 12 days into 2007. How many times have you still written 2006 on checks or whatever? :p I think I'm used to the idea that it's 2007. It's might even be a little more difficult to get used to the 2007 X5. I went by the dealer this week and saw the E70 in person for the first time. I did not drive one though and maybe if I had I would have a different impression of it. Overall, I'm not blown away. The looks are just "okay" and being parked beside 2007 X3's, to me it took away from the uniqueness of the X5. They share too many similar elements in BMW's efforts to create a family look. The interior is nice but if anything, it feels a little fussy with an arm rest storage bin that has two doors that need to be opened, cupholders and ashtray that has two opposing roller doors, and a high-tech looking shift knob that kind of protrudes from out of nowhere. The navigation screen looks very small and not very well intergrated. The third row seats are a joke. Unless you want to put small kids back there or want to punish adults, they're very uncomfortable. Finally, the price is just so high for the E70's. I think that the E70 makes me wish it was still 2006.

This past week brought up some old memories, or should I say old members. ChrisF popped in and BreytonX5 (Phong) was mentioned. What's up with the old regs and faves? Curious Joel was semi-absent for a while but he's back and even Labatt made an appearance. Now I want to know where Verbalkint and BreytonX5 are and I want them to drop in to say hello. Someone go round them up. There are other oldtime members who have been MIA so it's time they come back. Wagner and Quicksilver kept us informed of the goings on in the world, blondboi was up on the latest car news, we all want the new iPhone, and x54.4blue somehow managed to pass the 1500 post mark. Just another week in the X5world Lounge.

To steal a word from Homer J. Simpson, DOH! So many morons.... This poor guy didn't have any fava beans or chianti. I know we have many home theater and tech junkies here who have sweet televisions but I'm going to buy this one and all your televisions are belong to me. If they made a dumb movie about snakes on a plane, how about scoprions in-flight? Is anyone looking for a new place to live? Here's a gem if you don't mind the creepiness. Another Darwin Award candidate. Wait a minute, maybe this guy should get the Darwin Award. The things people do for "3 hots and a cot". Looks like Starbuck has some competition unless they start brewing with Ecstasy.

That's all folks. Everyone have a great weekend!

I agree with you on the E70 Kev. I hoped that after I saw it in person I'd change my mind. I don't even have the desire to test drive it. Just makes me appreciate my E53.

MD spoke to Verbalkint not long ago. As per Lemans, Breyton lurks in the shadows.

Happy Friday everyone..

NO WAY.

And actually had I known there was all this Jimmy Hendrix Purple Haze crap happening today, I would have worn blue and white

BTW, all those die hard Ravens fans that are mad the Colts left...need to learn why:
----

With negotiations between Robert Irsay and Baltimore, Maryland over improvements to Memorial Stadium at an impasse, the Maryland state legislature passed a law on March 28, 1984 allowing the city of Baltimore to seize the Colts under eminent domain, which city and county officials had previously threatened to do. Irsay later claimed the city promised him a new football stadium, something they publicly denied, citing the team's poor recent performance and poor attendance. Negotiations broke down when an apparently inebriated, ranting Irsay appeared on a local TV news broadcast and threatened to leave Baltimore — a threat he had made previously. Soon afterward, the legislature passed a bill allowing the seizing of the team under eminent domain. The next day, Irsay, fearing a dawn raid on the team's Owings Mills headquarters, quickly accepted a deal offered by the city of Indianapolis and then contacted his good friend, John B. Smith, who was the CEO of the Mayflower Transit Company, and arranged for fifteen vans to hurriedly pack up the team's property and transport it to Indianapolis in the early hours of the morning.

Well, the E70 X5 is an evolutionary design compared with the E53 X5. However, once you test drive, it is definitely better our E53 X5 in terms of ride and handling.

Actually, I felt the same way with the E46 3-series vs the E90 3-series. Yes, I know the 335i has kick-ass power, but I love the E46 3-series coupe dashboard over the E90/E92 3-series dashboard. The newer BMWs seem to be more "plasticky" in the interior and exterior.

Ha-ha! Just once for me, and I just wrote over it real heavy. As far as I know the check went through.

About the '07 X5, I have liked to pictures I've seen of it and walked by one this morning but didn't get a good look at it. I don't care about the 3rd row seating but I like the styling. Still, I need to get up close and personal with one before making any final judgements.

Happy Friday to ya' and have a great weekend!
