Whistle Louis Vuitton to acquire Aston Martin

Next time my wife says that she wants LV stuff, I am gonna buy an AM. I am sure it will have LV stamped all over the seats.

Louis Vuitton to acquire Aston Martin
French luxury goods maker LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA — better known as just Louis Vuitton — has won an auction to acquire Aston Martin from Ford, according to a German news report.

The news will appear in weekly auto magazine Autobild tomorrow, according to MarketWatch, which obtained an advance copy of the article. The Autobild report cites well-placed but anonymous sources.

Earlier this week, bidding ended for Aston Martin, which has been up for "auction" since August. Ford is selling the successful sports car company in order to raise much-needed capital.

Ford will retain a 15 percent stake in the company, according to the report. No details on the sale price were given, but a report by Britain's Sunday Times in December put valuation as high as $1.2 billion.

Oh no! My favorite car will have an interior that looks like a way over priced pocket book!

does Louis Vuitton know anything about cars???

this maybe a success...if they can trick people into buying a $3000 dog carrier, they can trick people into buying aston martins...maybe there will even be generic aston martins...

Moet and Chandon purchased LV a few years ago and didn't change a thing I am guessing they are going to do the same with Aston...they are a profitable company again and with the Rapiede coming out in 08 they have another home run on thier hands to go along with the db9 and vanquish...the company wont do much if anything to the business I am fairly certian.

also the generic aston martin is know as the new Jag XK

Wow that is interesting. Time to buy some LVMH stock quickly perhaps. The whole company has gone through some restructuring lately, but this is a totaly brand new arm for them wow. Oooh maybe you can now you can get some free luggage and champaign with each car purchase. Though as much as I like LV, hopefully they will use the better leather from Bottega or somewhere.

Wasnt a British financier going to buy Jag off them as well? Kinda doubt they will spin that one off.

I wonder what this means for AM racing.... it's going to be very disappointing if they pull out of Le Mans type races... Corvette Racing needs some competition
