I wouldn't recommend calling them. Rather, just show up.. but nevertheless, probably some idiot who doesn't even know what a datejust looks like.

on the note of buying watches.. i use alpha omega in copley in boston.. and i can generally get 25% off retail on watches (breitling rolex omega).. phones (vertu).. does that sound about right with you guys or should i look around for bigger discount?? thanks

Maybe you could get an even trade for one of those fancy foriegn jobs like the (and I can't even pronounce this) T-I-M-E-X

25% ain't a bad deal but it's not the best either. I have an authorized dealer, Omega, Breitling, etc. who will usually do 35%. Contact me for details. Rolex discounts vary with model..

If you can only get a few hundred dollars for the watch, I would just keep it or pass it along to your son or other family. That's what I'm doing with my 15 yr. old GMT II (my son can hardly wait). Just seems like a waste to sell it too cheaply.

Exactly. I have no desire to do this swap unless my out of pocket cost is low.

Since I am in no rush, I will take my time until the right opportunity comes along. It looks like the only cost effective way to accomplish my swap would be to sell through one of the recommended services like timezone.

I guess my first step is to get an accurate appraisal of my current watch.
