eBay question

I'm a noob when it comes to selling on eBay and I have a couple of things for sale right now. I have a question from someone who has bid but has asked me what my reserve is. I am not inclined to tell him/her but what do you guys thinks? Pros? Cons?

I guess that the pro would be that they might get the bid up to that, but then again maybe not.

Either way, it sells or it doesn't.

I have never used a reserve. It tends to turn off buyers. I would tell the seller.

Reserve is for you to know. If he wants negotiate he has to bid for it.

He is right, never tell. That is YOUR amount, not the buyers.

Kev - it's a function of what you're selling (low price item or high price) and how many bidders or watchers you have, and if you've preset the minimum bid.

If you're selling a Rolex with a $20,000 reserve with the current bid far below that amount, I'd tell them. If it's a good deal, you would be drawing them into the auction. Otherwise, they might be guessing that you have a higher reserve price and may walk away from your auction. If they are truly interested, they'll bid.

If you're selling a low dollar item with a many bidders and watchers, I wouldn't disclose the bid.
