Flying up the Hill......
All I can say is **WOW** Now for some details. I have been tracking cars since 1999 but never entered the competitive field. So my bro and I drove up north and did a weekend race event with Skip Barber. It was freaking amazing. Yes, it poured on Thurs, Fri and Sat but I got to learn the rain lines. It was a bit scary but it's amazing how much grip a car can have in the torential rain. You would think a car might go flying off the track but, "no", driven correctly, you can take some really fast turns in the rain. -- Granted you can't see anything because of the spray coming from the car in front of you, but that's another story. Today, Sunday, the sun broke through, and we got to run the track dry, and super fast. I think my best time was about 2:05. This was my second time being at Thunderhill (in Willows, CA) and I have to say, it's one of my favorite tracks. Very challenging, fast, technical and did I mention, BEAUTIFUL... The landscapes are insane. By now you must be wondering, so Seth, how did you do in the races? Thanks for asking ![]() (btw, these are open wheel, open cockpit, formula Dodge's) They sort of like like smaller Formula 1 cars for those of you not familiar. -- So my first race, I qualified ninth because of a spin in my second to last lap. (spins automatically put you at the back of the grid.) But somehow, in the pouring rain, I managed to claw my way up to 4th place and won the "Rookie of the Race" award. Got a trophy and everything. Today's race, I qualified ninth again, (it's a scary fast track in the dry and it took me some nerve to get up to full speed.) I finished the race in sixth place. All in all, it was just an amazing weekend even though it poured and poured. For those of you thinking about doing a Skip Barber school or race, do not hesitate, it's the greatest. Wish I had some pics to share, but again, weather wasn't so hot for photo ops. B...

That sounds great Seth. I was wondering whether you were club racing in the 993 or... until I read that it was in Barber open wheel cars. Must've been a thrill.

Did open wheel lessons at TMS the last few years and loved it. Scarry as hell.
