Attention V1 owners...

I have a few questions about my V1 that I am hoping that some of you V1 owners will be able to answer. First of all, I noticed that my V1 has been running hot lately. Is this normal?? Second question is that my radar pickup from the rear is stronger than pick up from the front, is this normal? Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hmmm, not sure I can help much here, but I'll try - I have a V1. As for the temp of the unit, I guess I've never really felt it after it's been on for a while, but unless it's getting really suspiciously hot, it's probably normal. I'll check mine if I think of it next time I'm driving for a while. So just how hot is yours getting? Is it hot all over or is there a hot spot? Is it too hot to keep your hand on it?

Regarding the stronger signals from the back, I think mine is pretty even with the front. Perhaps it could have something to do with how you have it mounted. If you could post a pic, maybe that'll help us diagnose your concerns...

It seems to be getting hot all over. I would compare it to the temp of a laptop after it has been on for a while. I will take some pics of where I mount the radar, but usally it is clipped to the sunshade.

Mine gets hot also. Nothing new. Is there something blocking the view from the front?

Is that clear enough below the rear view mirror? Might be interferring and
give extra feedback from the rear...

Some updates: Took a long drive today, V1 is not picking up very well in the front. IT will start to pick up only yards away from a radar car. However, back radar will continue and pick up for 1 - 2 miles. V1 is getting very hot, hot water on a stove, hot. I will most likely contact V1 and send it in for service. This is the second time that I will have to send it in for problems, I think I will demand that they send me a new unit.

Hot is normal, cannot really give you an answer on the signal though. I have mine hard wired into the sun roof console and hang it on my visor and don't have any problems...and believe me its saved my ass more than a few times, most recently 2 weeks ago while I was on my way home from a trip to Cabelas in Hamburg, PA. I have also sent mine in recently to have it upgraded with the new POP stuff (whatever that is?). I thought they would just change out the innards but they actually give you a brand new detector, cost was roughly $180 for the new technology. I would suggest calling V1 they are very helpful.

I know it is supposed to run hot. But it is getting way to hot, and it is not working like it should.

Mine runs hot too. V1 said that was normal.

And here's an idea for installation...
