Just curious - do you know of any instance where a teacher is an unmitigated disaster and didn't know how to teach their way ot of a paper bag with both ends open? It is a serious question and I mean no disrespect. I am just wondering if there is any proof to the claim that these especially heinous teachers really exist and if they exist and it is proven they are totally incompetent they were still allowed to teach.

I can't help but laugh...indeed, there are without a doubt, the "unmitigated disasters" who are able to keep their jobs thanks to tenure! There is a tenured teacher in my building who has come to school drunk, often smells of alcohol, and NEVER has a lesson planned for her students. Sad, but very true. She has been removed from the core class that she once taught and placed in a "less-academic" environment...damage control. These teachers are often put on "plans" that address the problem...unfortunately, as this teacher is still employed, and changed her ways very little (with the exception of coming to school DRUNK), these plans are a joke!
