Trade-In Questions

OK so I am considering trading in my 02' X5 for a 03' 4.6is or a 06' 4.8i certified pre-owned @ Nick Alexander BMW. They'll need to do an appraisal on my car first obviously, my question is if I should remove all the aftermarket parts prior to the appraisal, I wasn't sure what the dealerships reaction is towards them so I wanted to find out before they actually saw my car today.

Here's the list of Aftermarket Mods:

-Angel Eyes and cleared headlights
-AFE Intake
-Eibach Springs
-JL Audio Subs/Amps
-Dension Icelink

Thanks in advance, if there's anything else you can tip me on let me know. This is the first time I'm dealing with a trade-in so I'm really lost on the process.

You might as well part-out the aftermarket parts and sell them since you def won't get money from them on any trade-in.

I guess I should have asked this, will they devalue my car if they see all the aftermarket mods on even if I end up removing them?

The AE's no, depending on where your subs etc are located ex:cargo area then yes, shocks=not able to see so that should be fine, ask your apraiser for 2 different values, they should be able to provide you with those

you should be OK with the springs, denison, and Angel eyes ... they might ask you to put back your original intake and take out the subs/amps, depending on how well they are hidden....

Actually the only items I think can stay are the AE's and IceLink. All others will probably have an ill-effect if left on in the dealers eyes. The springs, if noticed, will possibly lead to a question of the suspension..the intake will definitely draw attention as will the subs.

from what i was told, in order for BMW to re-sell ur X5
on their lot, they will have to return it to OEM. i was
told that they will take that into consideration when
pricing ur X5.

take it out... I would actually suggest not trading it in.. they will give you the auction rate for that car which is probably 3-4k under wholesale due to age.
