I plan to get the canon sd750 that just came out, replaces the sd630 that was 6 Mega-pixel. Has huge 3" screen (no viewfinder), 7.1 Mega-pixels, 3x optical zoom, the latest Digic III processor, and is extremely small in size. Retail is $350.

I own and highly recommend the Cannon SD630. Also look at its just released replacement SD750. These camaras are the best all around choice for size, features and pic quality. Of course if pic quality is most important to you, compact is not the best choice, go for a SLR style digital.

The sd630 is an awesome camera, but for some reason ours stopped working (and it was only about 3 months old). The lcd went black and it wouldn't snap pics at all. We returned it to Costco and were going to exchange it for another sd630 but they were out of stock and told us it would be a week or two before the replacement model comes in. We waited about 3 weeks and they still don't have it. Couldn't pass up the deal for the sd750 at buy.com.

I own (and like) my Casio EX-Z600. It is 6mp (comes in 7) and has a giant (I think 3.5'') LCD. Zoom, at 3x optical, isn't fantastic but it works. Also very slim and portable. I give it a

Your $.02 please, camera experts

I need a simple dependable camera that i can just pull out and snap shots with. It will be banging around in a tank bag on a motorcycle or tucked into my pocket when I land in the dirt. In short, don't wanna thrown down money for the newest and blingest.

What say you of this Sony DSC-W100 for sale?:

if you want something compact check out the casio exlim s600, much smaller than the z600 and its a steal at about $230 on amazon. small screen but big enough. i believe they make a 7mp and 8mp version of it now too and that would put you up in the 300-400 range.

Your endorsement makes this a contender also. $179 at Best Buy plus a $30 gift certificate and free shipping. Kind of hard to say no...

Or this almost-identical model for $199. Appears the differences are 2.6" screeen (vs 2.5"), Vista compatible, image stabilization, and a bit more ISO...but no burst mode? This one has an "LCD only" viewfinder and the cheaper one has an "electronic" viewfinder.
