Is AAA worth it?

I can do the math...however I've never had AAA before and was wondering if anyone here had any thoughts on the topic. Just got an offer for 13 months coverage in any car including one I may be riding in that doesn't belong to me, all for $51. Is this a deal?

Never can have too much insurance, right? The money I've saved with the AAA discount alone at hotels so far this year has more than paid for my AAA card. And if I ever run out of gas in the beater (twice in the past year- after replacing the fuel sending unit and gas gauge, it still won't read correctly), I just give 'em a yell. I used to try and slip in with a AAA discount when I wasn't a member, thinking they'll never ask for my membership #, and they used to forget a lot. In these days of computerized everything, they always ask when I reserve now. Oh, and the magazine ain't too bad, either.

One long distance tow w/o AAA will pay for 5 years of membership.

I also like going to the AAA offices instead of the DMV for many services you usually have to line up for at the stinkyass cockroach infested DMW offices. I've renewed registrations, tranferred title, and picked up license plates at AAA.

Your AAA membership goes with you rather than your vehicle so you can use their services if you are riding in someone else's car and they get a flat, etc.

Is AAA worth it?

IMO, yes, for all of the above reasons.

Yeah, but everything still works. OK, maybe I've lost a couple of mph's off my fastball. Maybe. Just a couple. Still throwing high heat, though.

Thanks. Will do.

Got your Driver License in 1974?!

Hellsbells, in '74 I was blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...

DaKidz were 7 and 5 then, and I did have my lic. for about 12 years at that point.

You "look" older in your email pics, K!

Personally I could live without it, but the CEO is a fan and with 2 kids under 18 now driving it's good insurance to have. I do use the AAA discounts all the time (one of the few things I do remember to ask for), so it does pay for itself in more ways than one.

Yep, and I believe it saves you 10% off of Progressive Insurance.
