Talking VZW Treo 650 is very KEWL!

For last 7 years, I have always needed to use a Palm PDA and Cell phone for my work. When the Treo 600 came out last year or so, I decided to wait till they get the bugs out. The Treo 650 did come out 1/2 year ago for Cingular and Sprint...but being on VZW and didn't want to pay to get out of the contract, I waited for the VZW Treo 650 to come out.

I'm happy to say that it's been great to use. Now, I only carry the Treo 650 for the past week (transferred all the programs/data, etc. from my Tungsten) and it's great. Don't need to carry 2 things anymore.

The Bluetooth on the VZW Treo 650 pairs up with BMW BT/Assist module with no problems. It also paired up with my old Motorola HS810 BT headset.

The PDA is fast and has non-volitile RAM (so even if the battery dies, all the info stays). Unfortunately, the memory is limited (they should have had at least double the RAM). However, I do have a 1GB SD card and move some programs and data on the card.

The phone works great, speakerphone is great, reception is fine and love the integreation of the PDA with the phone. And you can check e-mail, SMS, and surf the web!

Last night, I was @ a dinner program and it was kewl getting on the "web" checking the NBA final game score. Also, you can still browse and post on X5world as well (I already did it the first day I got the Treo 2 weeks ago or so).

Anyhow, if there are any other Treo 600/650 owners, let me know what good programs are out there for it.

nice...i have been thinking about getting one as well? but i thought i remember reading some guys in the forum saying it wasn't working so great with their BMW BT integration? do you have yours hooked up to your X5? if so what parts did you have to purchase and roughly how much did you spend?

I use a 650 on Cingular. Don't want to clutter your life with more forums (nor do I want to divert your attention from CJ's personal blog ), but take a look at the Discussion on TreoCentral. It is the X5World of all things Treo.

With that out of the way, I use few apps for fear of mucking up an already unstable OS. I use VeriChat for my IM needs (awesome app), ZLauncher, TakePhone, and Backupbuddy. These are all popular apps with demo trial periods (I paid for VeriChat, going to pay for the others soon), and all have been talked to death on the forums.

Enjoy your new toy. I love mine.

long time user of the 600. got a lot of apps for it. IMChatter lets you do yahoo, MSn etc in the background and also IMAP from within the app. It is one app that I have running 24X7 on my TMobile treo. Also have the cardbackup software for backing up data ofcourse onto the SD card and Ptunes to use it as an MP3 player.

I use the 650 on the Sprint network. I never used a PDA before, just the basic calendar and note functions on my old flip phone (very cumbersome).

My wife uses a PDA for work, so in deciding to consolidate her phone and PDA into one, I decided to give the Treo a shot. Now, I probably use the PDA functions as much as she does.

I thought I saw a Verizon commercial that listed the 650 for something crazy like $299 (probably including rebates). Sprint got me for $450 each (including rebates). I don't know how Verizon's data services compare, but its voice services are probably better than my Sprint service.

BTW, I recently received my Vaja case (is this turning into a TreoCentral posting). ME LIKES! Now I'm thinking about one for the iPod.
