What do you think of talk show host............

That makes these kinds of comments?

WASHINGTON -- A popular morning radio host is at the center of a controversy after making some racially insensitive comments about the women's basketball team from Rutgers University, which played in the NCAA championship Tuesday night.

On his "Imus In The Morning" show Thursday He was talking to Sid Rosenberg with Sports Talk on the phone about the Women's NCAA Championship game.

Imus started out talking about the Rutgers team as, "some rough girls from Rutgers. They got tattoos," and then went on to call them "some nappy-headed hos."

He compared them to the Tennessee team, saying "The girls from Tennessee -- they all looked cute."

The conversation then went on to compare the game to "the jigaboos versus the wannabes." Media Matters reported that the show's executive producer, Bernard McGuirk, made that comment.

According to The New York Times, Imus also said people should relax and "not worry about some idiot saying something meant to be amusing."

Free speech is one thing but it seems to me there ought to be some sort of dignity and responsibility on the part of broadcasters when refering to the way others look.

That is unbelievably racist. I can see the "if you don't like it change the channel" argument but come on.

Anyone can be nappy-headed, but jigaboo is strictly a slur against black people...I think that crew on the Imus show must not get out into the world of diversity very much to know better than to say that kind of thing.

Not to bring up the other side of the coin for balance, because I think it's over the line to use that kind of slur the guy from the Imus show used...but I hear white folks, asians and hispanics getting insulted and put down every day on Tom Joyner's show and nobody complains about it. I wonder if it's because there's no single word they're using that's such an awful slur that incites anger and outrage such as the 'n' word.

My opinion on why these radio/TV hosts say the things that they do is so biased from the average American's because I work in that same field, but allegedly it's for humorous/shock value and not a core value of the private citizen who is a public personality on the radio/TV. At least I really hope it's not a core value.

And unacceptable, but unfortunately not surprising, considering the source.

one of those guys in the studio earlier this week got a call from a man with a middle eastern sounding name. He told him he had no idea wtf he was talking about with his statement about the M.E.

In return his response was

camel jocky
sand lover
you are a terrorist where were you on 9/11. Get out of my country.
& he started making Native American noises with his hand-mouth as if that had anything to do with him.

This was the day Imus was absent for anyone who watches this show or listens to it.

I'm a big fan of Howard Stern and he does the same thing, all the time.
I guess the difference is, Howard has a policy, he makes fun of EVERYBODY. Blacks, jews, mentally challenged, physically challenged, etc.

I actually think it's okay to make fun of people as long as you make fun of EVERYONE. I am not saying racial slurs are justified, they are not..

Imus is an idiot, granted. But not everyone who has dropped an "n" bomb in their life is a racist. And not everyone who has never dropped an "n" bomb is not a racist.

As long as some words are taboo, in certain cases, when used appropriately, can also be very funny. Do I hate Cartman because he calls Kyle a dirty Jew? No, it's funny. It's only offensive to people who take themselves to seriously.
