You guys all have valid points in saying the the guy pulling the trigger is the one to blame. Absolutely. There must be a reason, this country's murder rate is so so much higher than others though...there has got to be some kind of correlation between something out there and a lot of people dying at the hands of others, in the US.

I'll take that answer for general "city shootings" I don't accept that answer for "school shootings" and other oddities.

Why not? It's obvious that American society/culture in some way encourages this type of violence. There's no denying it.

It's the exact same principle. Even if you persist that this different, the underlying problem isn't going anywhere.

Ah, no it isn't. I would love to hear your logic for what the similarities are between a school shooting and a drug deal drive by, aside from the weapon of choice of course. This is the problem, society tries to right this off as "oh its all this" as a cause, it isn't.

I agree. It really isn't society's problem. It's the individual that makes the choice to pull the trigger.

Surprisingly, I'm going to college next year and for some reason this just doesn't scare me like it does everyone else. Heck, chances are I'll be going to UVA (as much as I don't want to). lol I can see this affecting enrollment next year at VT.

U gotta ot be dreaming if you think it's not this society's problem. The individual is shaped by the society he lives in. I'm not saying the individual doesn't have a big part of the responsability, it's hovewer clear that American culture promotes gun violence.
Bottom line is if there are no guns no one will get shot!!!
