It obv works. Look at Japan, which has banned handguns- one of the lowest murder rates at 1/100 of what it is in the US.

For starters, stop making guns.

Or how about banning "Hip Hop" and "Rap Music" seeing the highest incident of homicides are committed by the inner city black population.

What about it Eric???? The numbers suggest that over seven times more homicides in America are committed by inner city blacks.

Forget that the facts prove that states that allow carry permits have the lowest homicide rates. Let's take this a step farther.

Well Eric?

Bottom line is if there are no guns no one will get shot!!!
+1
There's got to be a reason why this country has the highest murder rate per capita in the world. People refuse ot open their eyes and acknowledge the fact that gun ownership is part of American culture ans since NRA is so powerful, no one is willing to step up to stop this Wild West.

Think about this if you are a gun supporter. If he was to use a KNIFE to carry out killings. The number of dead maybe a lot less. Guns dont kill people but GUNS give people a GREAT TOOL to kill in mass. Thats what i see from this.

You are assuming a guy willing to commit murder is going to obey the law. Please tell me that you don't believe he would consider not following through with the murder of 30+ people because he did not want to break any gun laws.

Are you for real?

Why do you suppose that is?

I think if you look at the stats, you will actually find that the highest homicide rates are with poor people, and not necessarily black. It just so happens that a far higher percentage of blacks are poor, thus you see what appears to be a racial statistic which is really an economic one.

Also, I'm pretty sure the murder rate in the inner cities was extremely high before rap music and hip-hop existed. In fact, since gangsta rap has become popular (early 1990s), the murder rate in the inner cities has actually dropped.

Let's examine this claim. Here are a list of the cities that have the highest murder rate in the US (in order) and whether or not that state allows carry permits (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_..._by_Crime_Rate):

1. Baltimore, MD - carry permits not allowed
2. Detroit, MI - carry permits allowed
3. St. Louis, MO - carry permits allowed
4. Washington DC - ??
5. Newark, NJ - carry permits not allowed
6. Kansas City, MO - carry permits allowed
7. Philadelphia, PA - carry permits allowed
8. Cincinatti, OH - carry permits not allowed
9. Cleveland, OH - carry permits not allowed
10. Oakland, CA - carry permits not allowed
11. Atlanta, GA - carry permits allowed
12. Milwaukee, WI - carry permits not allowed
13. Memphis, TN - carry permits allowed
14. Buffalo, NY - carry permits not allowed
15. Pittsburgh, PA - carry permits allowed
16. Nashville, TN - carry permits allowed
17. Dallas, TX - carry permits allowed
18. Houston, TX - carry permits allowed
19. Chicago, IL - carry permits not allowed
20. Phoenix, AZ - carry permits allowed

So 11 of the 20 cities with the highest murder rates allow carry permits. I think you have no case here.

The answer as to why we have a very high murder rate is staring everyone in the face, and it is on your news programs every single night, but nobody wants to acknowledge the reason. It has nothing to do with the availability of guns, or rap/hip-hop music, or even anything Don Imus has to say.

It has to do with the glorification of murder in our culture. We have been taught from the time we are little that it is good to kill the "bad guys". We cheer in the movies when our action hero kills the bad guys. We say it is good when a real life bad guy gets the death penalty and is executed. And we cheer when our military kills our enemies.

But it just so happens that everyone has their own opinion of who the "bad guys" are. For some people, the bad guy may be their loud obnoxous neighbor. For others it may be the guy their wife is sleeping with. And for some, it may be the guy in the BMW who cut you off at the traffic light. So those of us who are less well tempered are more likely to get into an altercation with any of these every-day bad guys, and that along with the combination of many Americans carrying around hand guns (both legally and illegally) results in murder.

The guns themselves do not cause the murder. It is the combination of both guns and culture.

There are plenty of other countries (Switzerland comes to mind) where it is common for people to own and carry hand guns, yet they have much much lower murder rates than ours. But if you look at such countries, you will find cultures that do not give the dealth penalty to criminals, do not celebrate war and the military, and in general do not glorify murder. And that is the difference.

You misunderstood what i said. Is buildig a deck with a machine saw faster than building a deck with a hand saw regardless of the deck builder skills? Just like this situation, guns make his killings faster and easier than if he was to use "a knife" in my example regardless of his willingness to kill. CNN showed how easy for him to obtain a gun if you watch it. Think about it and dont support guns please.

Wrong again Eric. There are far more white "poor people" in America. If what you said was indeed true the homicide rate among whites would exceed that of blacks.

Try again...

Our murder rate is high due to inner city gangs predominantly made up of inner city blacks and Hispanics. Remove the gang violence from the equation and you will find most of America with its liberal gun laws has murder rates lower than most of Europe.
