Off Road Desert Races in Nevada (Pics)

A friend at work runs the local xterra club. And through that he has become a codriver of a offroad racer that runs in the "Stock" class. "Stock" means stock drive train etc. The series is "Best In the Desert".

Anyway they asked if I would go along to help out / photograph. I didn't have anything better to do that weekend so the wife and I drove down after work on Friday (it was in Pahrump, NV) anyway. We got up at 5:00 AM the morning of the race.

It was decided that the X5 would be one of the chase / pit trucks. (Basicaly we had 8 people and didn't want to cram)

It was a fun, dirty and hot experiance. The race was 250 miles long basicaly like the "baja". 8 pit stops That we had to drive to, some were close to the highway some were kinda far, and some were next to silt (thin sand basicaly) pits that some people got stuck in.

The Xterra broke a stearing u joint 2 miles out side of pit number 2 the solution was to weld a snap on swivel socket in its place. LOL Lucky for us one of the "big boys" had their pit trailor there with everything we needed, and they were happy to help. After that just flat tires were the only issues.

They took off about 9ish in the morning and finished at something like 7:00pm.

The trophy trucks hall ass. Which is pretty cool to see realy. The dust filled up entire valleys which was kind of amazing.

Anyway on to the pics. (I haven't edited many yet but I'll post a link to all of them)

And the X5 at the first pit stop. It got very dirty after this.

And a shot of the valley

Click the links at the end of the post. In the unedited section I have over 300, I took over 500 but due to one reason or another I'm not hosting those ones online.

Some of the pictures will be on www.teamxterraracing.com soon.
