Question Freedom:

Food for thought:

MILLIONS have fought for it. Some have even died for it. It is truly one of mankind’s most precious possessions. What is it? Freedom! The World Book Encyclopedia defines freedom as “the ability to make choices and to carry them out.” It continues: “From a legal point of view, people are free if society imposes no unjust, unnecessary, or unreasonable limits on them. Society must also protect their rights—that is, their basic liberties, powers, and privileges.”

The concept sounds simple. In practice, however, it seems to be virtually impossible for people to agree on just where the boundaries of freedom should be set. For example, some believe that a government should enact laws to protect the freedom of its citizens. But others will argue that these laws are the very shackles from which citizens need to be set free! Clearly, freedom means different things to different people.

What does it mean to you???

To me Freedom means living under a minimum of Government laws, all common sense laws, and being free to do as we please as long as our actions don't conflict with other people or their property.

We must always be allowed to posess the tools to protect those freedoms from those who wish to take them!.

To do as you "reasonably" please as long as you do not infringe upon another person's rights, space, property, and overall comfort. Easier said then done! Take my neighbor, he complains when I trim back the bouganvilia (sp?) that reaches a good 5-7ft over my fence..he tells me that I have no right to cut back his plants WTF!!! So, it's ok for his plant to come far into my property and possibly injure me if part of it happens to fall in and I happen to step on the big thorns - it has happened before.

Easy to define freedom - most difficult for people to practice it!
