POLL: What level of maint could you perform on your X5?

I got to thinking about how many of us could perform varoius levels of maintenance on our X5's. When you respond to this poll please relate your thoughts on what you perceive as the reason for the obvious trends as the poll progresses.

There's no option for I can call for an appointment

I do know how to open the hood and I add my own washer fluid and check my own tire pressure.

I could pull the engine and do a total rebuild. That said I wouldn't...Now. Once upon a time I would take that on as I've build a handful of engines from scratch (pistons, rods, cam, crankshaft). Today there is just not enough time and it is hard to look good in a suit for work after spending a weekend wrenching on the vehicle.

Just today I was thinking I'd replace the front disk brakes and pads which are about due for replacement. I thought about it for about 3 seconds and decided to make an appointment at the local independent shop. I'd rather pay for the convenience. Now...When my son is old enough I will get back to wrenching so he can learn to respect cars.

Yes I can. Checking the tire pressure is a little tough with the dress on but it has been done. Funny, no one offers to do it for me when I have a dress on but they do when I have pants on

Change the camshaft should be changed to change the valve cover gasket. If you can change a camshaft on these engines you can very likely change the pistons and rings.

The camshaft can be replaced without removing the engine. You'll have to pull the engine to replace the pistons/rings.
