Saw a pretty cool car today

and almost slammed into it.
It was pouring rain (still is), and this a$$ in a Lorinser CL600 was sitting on the side of the road with it's right turing signal on, (but no lights), and so I'm in the X5 and decide to pass it on the left, and just as I'm about to pass it, they turn the wheel and start to move and do a u-turn. Right into me. I slammed on the brakes as hard as I could, and also blared the horn and switched on the highbeams. They yank the car around, sliding all over the place, and I contiune to blare the horn at them and give 'em dirty looks.
After that, on the way to Costco, I saw a Smart Car, it was a older one (maybe an '05) and it had these strange white plates with black numbers and letters. Anyways, it was the first time I've ever seen one in the US. And, to top it off, at the parking lot at Costco, I see this. I've seen them at the Auto Show, but I never knew somebody would actually buy one.

Holiday weekends bring out the worst drivers. There were excellent roads on the way to the BMW meet today, but it was all spoiled by various drivers going about 10mph below the limit. And since I'm a sane, socially responsible driver, I put up with the ridiculous braking and driving and don't pass on the double-yellow. Geez do these drivers not realize they're backing up traffic to the point of 4 to 5 cars behind them?

lol....I just came back from the Pirates movie...it was good..but on the way back, some guy in an A8 decided to do a u-turn on a 6-lane road (that was empty besides me) and he didn't make the turn...I had to cross two pairs of double yellow lines. At least it wasn't a Buick Century going 45mph in the fast lane

Try having one-lane highways in the mountains with logging trucks and drunk idiots
AND all the paranoid folk with suspended licenses afraid of the sudden rash of speed traps.

Ah I can see what you mean. Passing on one-lane roads is particularly hairy in my X3 2.5i. When passing in a 4100lb SAV saddled to 184hp and a slushbox, planning to pass must begin 2 weeks in advance, and a WHOLE lot of luck that there isn't any oncoming traffic. I think I have more "failed" passes than successful ones on one-lane roads.

Now passing in my previous Lexus was a blast. Foot down, 2nd gear, redline, done.

Around here, people are paranoid about the speed cameras. Most people realize that just because a place says "Photo enforced" doesn't mean it really is. It's only photo enforced when there's a minivan on the side of the road, cones front and back, and a sign that says "Street Safety" painted on the side of the minivan.

Those Lorinser kits are pretty common in Los Angeles. I personally think they're hideous as well as overpriced. To each his own I guess.
