The sex tape is important to the discussion because people use it as a platform to loathe or bash her. Who cares if she has a sex tape, is my point. That doesn't exactly make her Charles Manson.

Also, I do not excuse her DUI or her repeat offense of it. But she is a young girl and that's an example of the trials and tribulations of "growing up".
- She did wrong, deserves to be punished. The tone of my post does not say otherwise.. But calling her "OUT OF CONTROL", I think many of the members of this board forgot what their own teens and 20's were like.
I would tell you all about some of the shit I did in high school and college but you'd probably label me a psychopath and have me institutionalized.

Does the punishment fit the crime? Maybe, maybe not. But some people need to get a grip and realize, she's making the same, everyday mistakes, a lot of young people make.

And I make the OJ point because, lets be honest, people with financial affluence have a much better easier time getting off, if they want to spend the money to fight and beat the courts. It would seem to me with the right lawyer and the desire to fight the judge's decision, she could have fought for community service or something of that nature. -- But she stood up and is doing the time.. Unlike many other famous, wealthy people who buy themselves out of prison.

Your right about this statement. It is important. Problem is many people do care about her displays of idiot behaviour because it's a bad example that many find disgusting. The fact that others have engaged in the same kind of behaviour provides no excuse for others to engage in it.

Is she out of control? Like many teenagers who don't know the meaning of the word control of course she is. In her case it's being filmed for other young people to imitate. What a waste. Just think of what she could accomplish by setting a good example for others to follow.

Is there something good about her? I would be the first to say that there must be. But it seems to me that there isn't a whole lot of effort being put forth by her or her parents to highlight whatever that is.

Ahhh, the parents. Where are they? Do they realize (or even care) that what their child does and how she carries herself reflects on them and how she was raised? When she was sentenced, her mother yelled at the judge. Not at her child for driving while drunk and on probation, but at the judge. That tells you the kind of example her parents have set for her to follow. However, she is now an adult, and free to make her own decisions. As far as I can see, she has chosen to make the wrong ones thus far.

By no means am I perfect, nor is anyone for that matter, and I certainly won't be the first to cast a stone at anyone, but we all seem to learn from our mistakes. She obviously hasn't, and maybe this stint in the big-house will help with that. Did the time fit the crime? Maybe not, that's a moot point. But in this society when there are impressionable celebrity obsessed young people who, for whatever reason, idolize and look up to "Young Hollywood," maybe this will serve as a reminder that there are repercussions for breaking the law (especially more than once), and will deter the young 'uns from following in her footsteps. Well, one can hope, anyway.

One last question: Why don't these wealthy folks hire a driver? Is that not a simple solution?

I'll just keep my input short and simple. I'm glad she's going to jail. DUI's are something that should not be tolerated. She's been driving under the influence multiple times before times before (I've seen it with my own two eyes), and she got what was coming to her.
