SPRINT Treo 700p Software update available today!
http://www.palm.com/us/support/downl...te/sprint.html If you have Verizon Treo 700p, Palm is still working on it and they HAVEN'T released a firm date of release. (Hopefully soon). There are already users with Sprint 700p who did the MR update and paired the Treo 700p beautifully with their BMW BT (at least BMWs with iDrive). Verizon Wireless is tentatively going to release the Verizon Treo 750 and Treo 755p by mid August 2007.

My sentiments exactly. Actually, both Palm and VZW are to be blamed, but probably more so with Palm. Palm was late into responding about coming about with a MR for the Treo 700p. Finally, after a big effort and stick made on www.treocentral.com Palm finally responded.
Well, I hope the VZW comes out with the MR in the next couple weeks and not wait till August when the VZW Treo 755p comes out (supposedly on August 13th, 2007). According to Palm's recent blogs (check it out at blog.palm.com ) that the MR is ready and waiting for carrier approval. Apprently, Sprint approved the Treo 700p MR first before VZW. I even talked to the VZW techs and they have no clue or any idea about this VZW Treo 700p MR, but enough VZW Treo 700p owners make a stink about it, I am we will get their attention. Quote:

What the MR is suppose to fix:
Reduce lags when starting the Phone application and Blazer. More stable Bluetooth connection and more compatability with other Bluetooth devices. Fix the audio lag when using pTunes. Make the Treo 700p more stable with hopefully fewer resets or crashes. Check out palm.com website. Quote:

Interesting. My 700P pairs fine. But as i've said before folks find it difficult to hear me. But I got a little info on that issue that it may be the position of my X5 mike so i'm gonna look into that later.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/Palm-D060; Blazer/4.5) 16;320x320)
I replaced my old Treo 650 with a 755p last month running the 1.04 software which I assume is the new upgrade for the 700p.. No problems pairing the 755p with iDrive. I got a good deal on the 755p - it was only $249 through Sprint retention along with a bunch of other free upgrades. |

Great deal. Yup, as you guessed, Palm fixed up most of the bugs by creating the new ROM for 755p. Basically, the 700p gets all the goodies that 755p gets. However, it seems like the 700p was the "beta-tested" device for the 755p!
Nevertheless, if you have a Sprint 700p and you want it to run better like the current 755p, then get the MR. I hear the BT implementation with the new software is much more stable. It is one thing to pair, it is another thing for the BT pairing to remain stable. Quote:

Some additional info regarding this update including adding support for SDHC memory cards.
For customers using Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 with SP 2 and above, an update to VersaMail now includes an update to Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync which adds Microsoft’s Direct Push Technology for push email, calendar and contacts. Also adding other EAS functionality such as remote wipe, policy support, and global address lookup http://www.brighthand.com/default.asp?newsID=13074

The Treo 755p ROM has been available on Treocentral.com and one of the things I did already was hack my Treo 700p to do the "recent app" function...if you play around with the 755p, by holding on the "HOME" button on the Treo, a pop-up window shows the last 8 recent apps run....if you continue to hold it longer, then, it will switch to the last app run. So I can swap back and forth between apps without going through "Applications".
However, the MR upgrade for Treo 700p now includes this program. Also, if you have Google Maps installed, when you go to "Contacts", there will be button labeled "Map" which will bring you directly to Google Maps without typing in the address of the contact. Tons of little upgrades which can be found on various treo websites. Quote:

I am slow with installs and hacks. I just re-installed Kinoma cause it was acting stupid. Seems ok now.
