My Mini says GOOD for the front offset impact which was the same as the X5 but the Mini looked to be far worse from the video. The Mini actually bent substantially in the roof area half way down the car. The crash dummy's neck had FAR more movement than the X5.

If you had your choice of the 2 cars what car would you rather be in during that type of impact? Give me the X5 any day.

You have to realize that the vehicles are based on their respective classes, the MINI does good in it's own class, it may do poor when compared with the crash-protection of an X5 which is obviously better

That makes sense. Earlier this year I hit a 3'X3' piece of Sheetrock which fell from a truck in front of me on the freeway. It took out the entire front end and was about $3,500 in damage.

One month later I hit a rubber orange cone which was in the middle of the fast lane at night on the freeway and it broke all the lights on the drivers side of the car, cracked the bumper and side markers. I had looked down for about 2 seconds and the car in front of me swerved. I almost got out of the way.

The car is going up for sale because I can't believe the damage this car sustains from relatively minor impacts. Too bad...It is a fun car. I felt much safer in the Porsche Boxster it replaced.
