Sony Cuts PlayStation 3 Price - Page 2

I'm in the market for a BR player but haven't decided to go with the PS or to get a much better dedicated BR player. The gurus at AVS forums swear that the PS BR player is inferior to the picture quality of the dedicated BR players (it would still be way better than my 1080i player, though!). A price cut could help sway me.

I am not a tech geek. And I am sure, for every arguement, there is an equal or better retort. But let me tell you:

I have a 65" Panasonic Plasma 1080p in my living room. It cost me an arm, two legs and my right eye. Yes, it was worth every penny.
I run everything through HDMI.
The only Blu Ray player I have is my PS3 and it looks nothing short of amazing. I would never even consider spending $600 on a dedicated Blu Ray player when I get the option of a game system as well.
- If you don't like the PS3 interface, fine, I can understand you getting a dedicated line. But take it from me. The picture on 1080p, blu-ray, running through HDMI and digital sound, is nothing less than extraordinary.

Thanks for the comments. And I hear you loud and clear. I am pretty hard core with my AV gear and change things around and upgrade a lot. I'll definitely give the PS3/BR a fair run before I go and spend money unnecessarily on a dedicated player. A friend of mine just got a PS3 and I have asked him to bring it over and hook it up for a weekend on my system so I can check out the pic quality, the interface, firmware speeds, etc. I bet I'll love it. 1080p rocks, no doubt. I am equally excited about the new high-rez audio formats.
