Just back from a short break/holiday.
Do you guys in the states have Chippies?? or perhaps known as Fish and Chips shops or would it Fish and Fries Shops If you do what can you buy out of them??? it's not going to be a white pudding supper is it.??

The States, not so much, but in Canada we have a variety of fish and chip shops. Most authentic ones here have cod, haddock, etc, but I like halibut. Mushy peas on the side are standard fare, malt vinegar for the purists, ketchup if you insist. If it is for takeout you get them wrapped in newsprint. Alternatives from the same shops are Cornish Pastys, sausage rolls, bangers and mash, etc. Realize that we live in British Columbia, so the UK influence is apparent.
In the US there are a lot of variations of fish and chips (catfish down south, lots of seafood in Boston, etc) but it tends to be restaurants and not chippies.
