Your thoughts??
Nokia 770 Internet tablet I was thinking of using this as a glorified TV guide -- connect it via the built in Wi-Fi, and get my TV listings instantly...no more newspaper listings. Yeah, you guys are probably like "HELLO USE YOUR CABLE BOX!!"..I am one of the cheap ones that has not upgraded to Digital Cable yet, extended basic does me just fine  What do you guys think for $130? I think the screen alone is worth that much. It's Linux based so upgrades and hacks will be around for a while.

Pardon me for saying so,
But if your fairly broke, then you need not be waisting money on a device that does nothing more for you than looking at the newspaper listings.. How about using that $130 to pay off some credit debt instead ? B P.S. - It's presumptious and obnixous for me to assume you have any credit debt. And I apologize for making the insuation. It just constantly astounds me how many of my friends are deep in debt. have no idea what their interest rate/payments are and continue to buy stupid stuff with their money rather than try to reconcile their credit card issues. I have to explain to them, that the pair of jeans they bought five years ago for $100. And has been sitting on their credit card at 20%, has now cost them $200. Not including all the late payment fee's...

extended basic cable already has a TV guide. And if your broke as you say you are why not invest it or as someone already said, pay off some of your debts.

Sorry Chris,
I wasn't actually meaning to make that statement towards you.. I meant to make it more as a blanket statement towards my friends how are always broke and yet, always seem to find a way to finance a 10 year old mercedes at 18% interest over a 8 year finance period..  My point should not have been directed at you. And there are lots of types of credit debt that are good. Like you mentioned, a home mortgage, which can be used as a significant tax write off. Just last week, I helped a friend calculate, that he has 4 credit cards that he never pays on time. In late fee's alone, that's between $80-$100 bucks a month he could be saving, just by paying things on time. That's $1000-$1200 a year! And he's at 20% interest. Sorry for the rant.. B

It's all good B, I know what you mean about people and debt...however the way things are going these days people can get in over their heads very easily. I've never seen such high inflation over the past ~7 years like I've seen between 00-07. I know we were due for a gas price hike and a number of other things, but man prices just continue to skyrocket. I'm fortunate enough to have a decent paying job but a lot of people do not...that doesn't excuse them from frivelous spending however...
